Yes it will be ok.

Best for gaming how?

What you have to remember is that its a waste of time setting your 360 or PS3 to 1080p as games are made in 720p.
Setting it to 1080p wont give you a better pic as the game isn't optimised for it.
Though if you have a PS3 get Wipeout. That is made in 1080p.

If my 50" plasma has been on for a while the back does get hot to the touch, although I doubt it is quite enough to heat a room!!
