TV technology....
So, plasma's came out and we all thought they were the nuts - I guess they still are, but then big screen LCD's came along and kicked their ass...
So LCD = better than plasma right?
So where does DLP fit in? I have heard of DLP (Digital Light Projection) projectors;
But now I have seen these DLP flat screen TV's aswell - are these just a new version of LCD rear projection TV's?
Cos I thought LCD rear projection TV's were big things - deep shassis, unlike these DLP TV's that are thin and flat like Plasma and LCD's....
Anyone know much about em?

We have a LG dlp tele, basically we was told there the same as a rear projection but these only have one big bulb were as the others have a few.
So you dont have all that shit underneath like the old rear projections.
Picture quality is much better

Nice one Ben - it is the LG that I had been told about.
How does the pic quality of the LG DLP compare to say a big plasma or LCD (not the rear projection ones, like the really thin ones)?
and lastly - what sort of money did you pay for yours? (what size is it?)
A chap I know has just got himself a 62" DLP Shame he lives in the US or I'd go round and nick it

hdtv is the next big thing mate and you,ll need a hdtv capable tv/plama/lcd i think its transmitted at a thousand lines so aslong as your unit goes to that resolution wise your ok ive seen alot that mostly go to 940 like the cheap 1k 1,s in tiny the next big con really to get you to buy something you dont really need i got a thompson plasma have to say it rocks and goes to 1020 was 2800 has dvi so can plug the pc into it good for dvds ect

rear projection tv's are the ones that are deep & have 3 foot of workings underneath them, LCD rear projection tv's are not a lot bigger than a plasma, we had a 42" sony LCD rear projection & it was fine, but you get used to the size after a while so we bought the same T.V. but in a 50"
the deepest part of it about 40cm, including the base stand it has about 20cm from the bottom of the screen to the cabinet it sits on.

I just found it on LG's site aswell.....
The only thing that puts me off is the size - the reason I like the plasma and LCD screens is cos of how thin they are - and wall mountable... But for the price, these DLP's are very intruiging.....
Cheers lads

I've got a small LCD in my bedroom, and whilst the picture quality from the superv DVD player I have is excellent, you tend to find that sometimes the picture from traditional TV aerial inputs can ghost quite a lot.
