Can they be downloaded from anywhere? I've got a tomtom one UK and Ireland and it could do with updating.

Tomtom want almost £40 for a new map, could almost buy a new sat nav for that

Are they available cheaper elsewhere?

just register with gpsunderground forum loads of info and downloads on there.

How much of it is verified though. Always wonder if someones going to fuck about and give false info.

I put navcore 8 on my old go300, put on latest 8.15 europe map and all latest speedcams, works great. You just need to get a blank sd card or backup your device before you mess with it, You can always put it back to how it was then if you make a mistake.
