Default Mortgage Statement

Had mine in the post today.

Only 8 years and 5 months left to go

Its nice seeing more capital being paid off than interest added

only got 22.5 years to go
total outstanding? around the £167k mark

on the other side of things
my dad's mortgage has 50p left on it, and has done so since 1993
his reasoning being that he'll have to hire a safety deposit box to keep the household paperwork in which will cost him £25 a year so he's saved loads of money

i might try that, but seeing as they said "you now have to look after the deeds to your property" i don't think i can
