Yeah, course. We have done them ourselves. I cracked a piston on mine in the last one we did! Doh! ![Smile](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
If the numbers were there, hell yes. I'd do 4x4, RWD and FWD qualifying.
As ever you get big noise about it and it goes quiet near the day, but i'd be more than happy to arrange it. Thrashes are on the back burner for the moment because of brunters and the costs of other possible venues. I would go for it though, yeah!
TOTB is well worth a crack IMO. You have to be one miserable cunt to go to a day like that and not enjoy it. Lemme see, a day with like-minded people, from across the car world, all having it and abusing their toys, swapping tips and ideas?
Or an afternoon slagging off the people from your own "scene" on the internet?
Car abuse and friendly banter/rivalry wins everytime for me, sadly, i'm in a minority it seems! Anytime a proper Ford owner tries to sort something they are met with sarcasm, digs, snide commets etc etc.
Not cool.

It would also identify any potential problems well in advance of the event. Nothing worse than something failing on the start line in front of a crowd as the car hasn't ever been tested!

Just as a note, the noise regs for TOTB are stricter than Brunters.
Ł100 for an entry is quite cheap, you get 2 tickets worth Ł40 and a DVD of the day Ł15, so that works out at Ł45 to have as many goes on the quarter mile and standing 1km plus 5 laps of the handling circuit - Not Bad?
Simon.
PS. dont think I will be attending this year as my baby is due in July?

We will be running the sunbeam again this year, so I don't think I will be able to compete myself, as it seems to take up all my time just working on one car! I will however see if Oli is interested, as we are now nudging 500bhp with the CVH!

With the new engine i will be genuinely shocked if you can't break into the 10s!!! ![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/shocked.gif)
The thing about yours Dave, is that it'll be an all rounder - ok, might not be 'the' quickest on the quarter, top speed or handling - but it should be up there mixing it with the jap stuff...

I think we would be competetive on the handling and standing km, but would be near the bottom on the qtr mile as mk3/4 escorts are dreadfull at putting power down off the line. (Allthough Tim somehow manages to get his going ok!)

So what can you do to help getting off the line quicker in mk3/4 escorts?
as there seams to be loads of powerful enough cars out there but they
put in shite quarters in comparison to a similar or even lesser powered nova/corsas!!

The solution is NOT to use a mk3/4 escort. Put Tim or Oli's engine in a mk1/2 fiesta, instant 11sec qtr mile car!
I even ran a 12 sec qtr in a X-flow powered mk1 fiesta over ten years ago with only 170bhp. Try running a 12sec qtr in a mk3/4 escort with anything less than 250bhp!

Lloyd,
The suspension design and geometry of the mk3/4 escort is terrible. I actually think they are the worst handling car of the era (i.e. early 80's) and by modern standards are shocking!
The fiesta mk1/2 allthough also crude by design, does not suffer with rear end squat, front end lift of the mk3/4 that prevents good launches.
Obviously the mk3/4 escort could be completely re-engineered to be a qtr mile car, but then why bother with the esocrt in the 1st place, and Tim and Oli use their's primarily as track cars.
Regarding weight my own fiesta should tip the scales at around 730kg, compared to 950kg of Tim's. VERY SIGNIFICANT!

Was one of the primary reasons i walked away from my 500bhp Mk4 Escort project, because it just wouldn't have been the chassis for the job!
The modifications required to hook even half that power up would have been extensive and at the end of it (and a far lighter wallet) - you run the same times as someone with half the power...

yes will, it seems quite often that a big power fwd ford will run the same times as a car with half the power.
the more power you have the harder it is to get any traction.
just a shame the vauxhalls can manage it lol
