Ł10 says Vauxhall do better than Ford will at the FWD group !
I'd like to be proven wrong but most of the Vauxhall lot have obviously upped their game from last year which is kind of worrying being that 3 cars (maybe more) all ran in the 11's, 2 of which doing over 130mph on the 1/4
If Karls built something that goes round corners he could do very well as a all rounder though as thats something the Vauxhall team haven't cracked yet

It was only banter Lloyd!
Must say I think vaux will shade it this year, but who knows. TBH I don't care who wins, just as long as there are plenty of cars doing quality times

iam trying to get a overall winner in the fwd, 1/4 ,handling, top speed.if chris mann cannot do this, then we could do our own unofficial version.it would just need somebody to record the times, and work out who the winner was.

It's a fantastic event and I'd love to see some Fords higher up the leaderboard. With all the big power Fords doing the rounds it's sad that it's left up to Stevie Ross to uphold our honour! Although it's awesome to see a Granny battering a Viper down the quarter mile...

I can remember when on the day of TOTB1 and 2 there were regular updates on this and other sites.
Seems to me that the "cheque book winning" that a lot of the entrants do has made the event lose some of it's lustre. Shame.

Also there is scope for the underdog to take the honours - If you saw the little purple Corsa take on the 1000bhp MG you'd know what I mean.
What ruins the event IMHO is the people who only do one discipline. Like the Evo boys spending all day on the handling circuit - That ruins it for the REAL competitors who want to do all three.
It's a great event, and would be even better with some more fast Fords taking part.

I would think running any times and actually turning up would do as it seems the turnout of Fords at this event in previous years has been terrible . It would be nice to enter a competetive car trying to win the event- maybe spending Ł50k+ on a car would help but I would enter to see how my car does against others rather than the overall win
Good luck with this year Lloyd et al

Well I intend to make a nice weekend of this, friends , banter and maybe the occasional run in the 3 events if the car wants to play game!
There are quicker cars out there for sure than mine, but you learn from experiences IMO so i want to see what, where and HOW you do it!
Whats the current Vauxhall times on average (CHIP bring on the scoreboards please).

Whats the top speed run over this year? I've just gone short ratio with my box - don't imagine myself being particularly competitive - but it'd be a bit of fun for Ł100

Gaz'd has run a 11.4 in the Corsa iirc not shabby from a nitroused atmo engine and that car is massively consistant which is what counts.
There are loads of other cars being built, Gavs being one but like others I'm unsure if that is going to make qualifying in time.
Danny did 181mph at Brunters, I'm sure Specky could match that if top speed was his thing, I think Specky was actually faster on the 1km at last years totb.

We stayed at a hotel a few years ago which wasn't far from the event.
Being honest something like your old mans Escort is what the Ford Team needs, Its capable in all 3 events, not to win any of them but it would raise the Ford flag somewhat as its massively underpowered compared to the others but I still think it would out perform a LOT of the other cars.

I've never understood this point of view - Having big bucks cars in the contest is what makes the event what it is! I don't want to watch a load of cars doing 14 second quarters. I want to watch the fastest cars in the country getting doing 180+ and sub 10 second passes!

the event needs better organising on the day, last year i didnt get noise tested untill 11am,take off the hour for demos and dinner, and there was not a lot of time left to que up and do some runs.
you need to get the competitors there early, and start racing at 9am.

that bit i understand, but surely your only a winner if you have completed all three tasks ?
what has been said above about evo's just doing the handling and nothing else, they are just wasting the actual track time on the day if so from the real competitors trying to win the class over all tasks?

I believe they still have a overall winner for each class, I didn't pay much attention to that last year as its something the Vauxhall team tend not to concentrate on much as the 11 sec cars aren't really built to do well in all 3 disciplines, some of the team did have a go at everything though.
If that is the case though I do feel Robs Astra could certainly win as a all rounder, its very fast and handles very well so fingers crossed for him that it comes together on the day
Specky in the Tigra came 2nd overall in the fwd drag but won the drag shootout, both him and the Honda iirc both won prizes for winning seperate categories.
I actually though originally that they only allowed 3 timed runs of the handling circuit, I know my mate didn't get much more than that last year but that was only down the que.

Fingers crossed Lloyd! Getting a diff shipped up from Martoon that evening and then fitted in a field with limited tools was not good fun!
All worth it in the end though!
My goals this year are:
1. Win the RWD 1/4
2. In the top 3 for RWD top speed
3. 1st or 2nd in the handling shootout (assuming I qualify for it, but beating Duncans new car wont be easy!!

Specky did 169mph in the standing km and has done a 11.3 off gas IIRC, the annyoing thing is there are the cars but no-one seems bothered I'm sure MAD Ade & Yum would be competitive and theres been a lot of good FWD Fords released this year, maybe it won't be left to sas this time?
