Jailbroken iPhone users - Copy And Paste apps available...

I might be a little late on the uptake, but I found a couple of apps available on Cydia catering for copy n paste. "Clippy" and "hClipboard" allow multiple text selection (for copy or delete) and text copied can be pasted between apps (for example, copy text from email and paste into an SMS) Also allows copying an SMS (double tap SMS to copy) which is a workaround for lack of SMS forwarding.
Only downside at the moment is that you need to be a text editing situation to copy text. IE, to copy text from an email you need to click the REPLY button first, then copy the text and paste it into a new email etc. And as of yet, it doesn't support copying text from a webpage (bummer)
But quite usefull![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
And yes, before one of the Anti-Apple/iPhone members pipes up, we ALL know it's such a basic thing that should have been included, but it wasn't, and at least this is a workaround for people still waiting for it to be included!!!!

What firmware are you on Ria? 2.2 or 2.2.1? The official 2.2.1 hack hasn't been released yet (should be within a few days or so) but the 2.2 hack has been out for ages.
Good news is that a software unlock of the 3G is now available, so the 3G phones can now be jailbroken and unlocked to use on a different carrier!

You've always been able to buy globally unlocked ones - ever since day one with the 2G iPhone. But you can fuck right off if you think I'm gonna pay Ł600/Ł700/Ł800 for one, as thats what they sell for!
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice bit of kit, but it ain't Ł700 nice! ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Ria - patience then my dear![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
US - set your iTunes to "manually manage" your iPhone and then you TELL it what you want to put on and take off. Remember tho, any apps you download to the phone OTA will automatically be transfered in the next sync or backup, likewise with contacts, music etc.
I hate iTunes - I always have, even from before getting my iPhone, and I managed to get away with not using it for my iPod, but the iPhone really doesn't work to it's full potential unless you use iTunes, which is a real shame IMO.....

Thanks thrush, I agree with you there.
One thing that pee's me off about the phone is the lack of flexability when u want to put video's/music on. I might check ebay out to see what these go for

I don't have any problems with putting music and video's on it. I just drag them into iTunes, then select them to be sync'd to the iPhone and press sync. That simple....
M4tty - the items are available through Cydia - just type CLIP into the search box and you'll find them. As for upgrading/rejailbreaking - yes, if you upgrade the firmware you'll need to re-jailbreak and download all your jailbreak apps all over again. Go on Cydia and install APTBACKUP and run that. It *should* create a plist file of all your jailbreak apps and sync it with iTunes. Then you upgrade, re-jailbreak, then restore the phone from your backup and once up and running again, go on cydia, download the APTBACKUP app again and run the restore on that - it *should* go find all your jailbreak apps, and download and install them automatically. I say should, cos it didn't work for me..... But it has worked for other people I have spoken to.
As for 2.2 over 2.1 - many App Store apps won't update untill you upgrade to 2.2m and 2.2 is more stable than 2.1, aswell as fixing the email fetch problem 2.1 had......

Depends what you want from it. I don't really do games, so for me it's all about making it as productive as possible - obviously at the time, MMS was first on the list, and then being able to theme it and change it's appearance - icons, dock, backgrounds, interface, etc etc. Then background apps and tweaks like being able to save files from Safari to the phone, copy and paste, being able to save YouTube video's, apps for viewing Office files, etc etc. It's all little tweaks really.....

Landscape email and SMS support is coming in OS 3.0 - as is MMS, so you might aswell wait as there isn't a decent free one out at the mo (jailbreak app SwirlyMMS is $8 for a license, and the free one in the App Store you have to buy credits for as it won't work with network tariff's) OS 3.0 will also include updates for the SMS app to allow forwarding of messages and singular message delete
All in all, 3.0 is a major step up for the iPhone OS!
