the cloud hotspots are free. Read that as mcdonalds, starbucks and a few other places like certain hotel chains. I'm sure if you google you'll find a comprehensive list.
They will come up as a cloud hotspot on the phone anyway so you'll know. It just requires you enter your phone number the very first time you use one.
Hope that helps,
Matt.

Most pubs, bars, shopping centres, airports will have wifi. Some you have to pay to get the password some are not protected so that you can browse.
If you click settings>wifi your iphone will search for wifi, you can tell it is searching as you get a spinny round thing next to wifi much like when a youtube video is loading. When this stop's spinning any avilable wifi zones will appear, ones with a padlock next to them require a password ones that don't...don't. Simply touch the wifi name and boo-rah you'll connect.
Sometimes you'll not find any (typically when you aren't in a 3g area) sometimes you might get 3 or 4.
Once you have connected to a wifi you can set the iphone to automatically connect to it for future visits. A wifi symbol will appear next to your signel strength when you are connected to a wifi.
Another interesting feature on the iphone is an application called dynolicous, click on applications and search for dyno and have a read up. I downloaded it at the weekend and it's pretty funky.
Any iphone questions feel free to PM me.

I never have a problem with MaccyDee's wifi - just open up a webpage, like Google for example, and it will re-direct to "The Cloud". Press "Other Provider" or something like that (it's the bottom option" and then when that page loads, press the MacDee's logo and your online. Simple!
As for PF search - works fine for me

You didn't read what I said - you don't need to type you phone number and password! You simply press the SECOND option (sign in with a different provider - or something like that) then when you see the MacDonalds logo you simply tap that - and you're in!
I am not signed to any of these wifi services like BTOpenZone or The Cloud, and I can get on MacDee's wifi no problem.
Same with Weatherspoons wifi, which often asks you for a username or password (for "The Cloud" network) but usually they have a public username and password on the page you can enter and use......
