Head on over to the www.xrtwo.com forums:

http://www.xrtwo.creativesell.com/forums/

Plenty of people there who have track cars and even run in the XR2 Saloon championships.

PF Dave has one and it's a nippy little bugger.
I chased him round the track at FordFair the other year and I was well impressed with it.

i had one for a year, stripped out bare, lowered, 2 buckets in, all i did 2 d engine was a set of twin 40 dcnf's, fast road cam and a janspeed competition exhaust..

In the real world round all the twisty B roads and country lanes where i live nuffin could keep up with it, was like a go kart. Gonna get another next year i fink as ma run around aswell as the RS.. Top car

They handle flipping brilliantly.
Just by lowering mine with 40mm Pi springs, made a huge difference.
Simple homemade mods will tighten the handling even more without spending lots on manufactured parts.

In the wet, however is a different story...............

My m8 has been using his XR2 on track for a few years now. He thought he'd buy a Corsa w/ a 2.0l red top as he was struggling on the straights. He doesn't feel safe running round the track in that, even though the suspension has been set up for the specific track.

The XR2 wins hands down, but just needs the power on the straights.....thats when the Zetec comes in.

Mates got a zetec in his reckons he'll never go back to a cvh engine im not sure if his has been lowered or not i dont think it has just a strut brace front and rear & it goes round corners like its on rails

My m8 Barry has one, it was on the Norfolk stand at Central Day, stripped out with all door cards replaced with perspex, no rear bench, full roll cage in it, 2 90 spec RS Turbo Recaro's in the front, it's been dropped on spax springs, got 15" Escort GTI rims on it, not sure on the pipe, think it's a magnex on there, put's out 130 horses and went like stink round Brands Hatch a few weeks ago

5 year old post

i have had well over 100 mk2 fiestas and half of them were xr2's and the biggest problem is rust plain and simple, everything else is easy on them exept the shit bodywork, i learned bodywork on rotten fiestas

i found the early b and c reg'ers to be faster then the d to g reg'ers

when i did have a rust free minter i treated it properly and i even drove a 89 f plate tasman blue one to st tropez and back and it never missed a beat once, was great fun on the bone dry south of france corniche roads.
