Default Project i can`t remember

before i begin i must state that in order for this to make any sense ill have to start from the beginning.

which was about 10/12 years ago(you`ll get this alot) as i was young not worried about photos as at the time the cameras were twist and click.

some of the dates ect i give you may not make sense as they will be off the top of my head guesses.

it was the late 90`s me and all the boys had ford 1.1 bonus and popular where used alot.lol.

a mate of mine scott did very well for him self and started buying some cracking rs`s saphs and turbos, he bought the cleanest s2 id ever seen proberly still was to this day, which he sold on to one of my friends perrie.

whilst looking for another car he bought an xr2 to smoke around in.
since junior school xr2`s had a special place in my heart. and i was know finishing my apprenatship as a mechanic.

scott bought a saph and i picked up the xr2 off him for 250 black very clean needed some mechanicle work for mot but it was a spanish right hand drive shell very sound.

i had it standard for quite some time and cherrished it.

Then one day round one of the lads houses fast and furious stlye ecept tea and buiscuits inplace of beer and gear.lol.

i was dared to turbo the xr2. i shot up the bank and arranged a 1.5loan and got on the phone to an rs breakers

bearing in mind i had only ever seen one xr2 turbo and that belonged to a guy named sev im sure some of you would have met this nice bloke at the ford fair he`s there showing his beauty year in year out.

only problem i had was beeing a nipper living at good old mum and dads i did`nt really have anywhere to do it.

the wifes boss was going away and asked us to house sit so it was on.

admittedley the first fit was a bit of a mess and i pritty much built the loom from scratch and proberly my proundest moment in motoring thinking back.

the engine ect was all standard that i put in and i just used the bits i had around me to get it goingchopped the standard erst exhaust and rewelded

to begin with i just welded a pipe on the back of the xr2 fuel tank to feed the rs pump which was a nightnare but it got it going and all the other cutting of crossmemebers ect i wont bore you all with.

took me about 4-5 days to do the conversion but i could`nt get it running right. in the end i had to take into a tuning shop to check it over.

turned out i`d missed the temp sensor under the inlet manifold with that added i was away.

ran really well farley nippy,

about 9 months later perrie wrapped up the s2
the engine was turned down by power engineering to 200bhp with 197 lb feet of torque i bought the lot.lol

i put a new front end on and did alot of major tidying full respray including standard kit all black and i fitted a set of 17" bsa 239`s for 2 reasons more grip so much torq and to help keep the 4" mongoose exhaust off the floor

so at this point it was somthing like

xr2 mint all black
200bhp 197lb torq rst s2 lump and running gear
stage 3 chip amed
31 actuator
mongoose system
piper cone filter
bailey dump valve
17" chrome wheels
spax adjustables
ice yardy yardy
80 spec rst seats

just really clean

then i had the seats retrimed half leather grey with blue fleck alcantera i think out of a renault van but works really well

then i put in a
pace radiator
pace charge cooler
blue samco boost hoses

boost upto 1.3 bar 2 stage amal switch
lots of chrome

it was beautifull
just after i got to this stage i grew up and moved in with the other half.
and just after that someone hit the front wing and knocked it all out

beeing skint i had it pushed and tarted just to try to keep it a little tidy till i had some cash

well then it happen

hunny im preg+".t

ah shat

we made the desicion i would do one last rs day at donny and it would go away into storage buy a vectra and be a muppet.

well it needed mot and tax, i had left working in the garage as i need a better income but i returned for a test as i still do and it failed on headlight tarnished and rear light lense broken my ex box offered to write me out a ticketas he knew i`d already ordered the bits i told him id return tomorrow for the retest and ticket.

well that night friday before donny we had the biggest storm in a decade
and his mot bay flooded he had to report it so the ministry revoked his testing.

i could`nt believe it this is what happens to honest people!

you know what i drove to donny anyway no tax no ticket

and i live in portsmouth

weekend was a blast sunday putting her in the garage broke my heart

lots of thoughts over the years about 4wd cossie transplant ect and at one stage i was going to do it i took the tank and pump out for my mate perrie who foolishly bought an escort cossie rep with and rst engine with standard mk five tank and pump.

5ish years later this week i got her out
i was supprised how well she`d held up.
i got an xr2 tank and a s2 tank cut out the swirl pot and fitted it in the xr tank
new battery and push on the air plunger and she ran bit lumpy for 10 minutes but cleared and ran sweet.

made up a small list of jobs to do from visual inspections that i found as follows
turbo to sump oil pipe deteriorated REPLACED
O/S/F inner cv boot abliterated REPLACED
reverse jumps out FIXED

down pipe split
indicator lense broken
temp sender broken off in head
fuel gauge not working
amal switch

mot is midday monday and hopefully ill be at the national day sunday
ill try to work in some pics what i`ve got here are a few that i know where they are at the moment

there not that acurate of how it is today but gives you an idea
ill update as i get time
Thanks for reading

just a quick small update more for my own records more than anything nipped over the garage tonight and straightned a few issues out

diagnosis of fuel gauge is sender unit which is a bit of a bum tank out again tomorrow

and battery light not coming on as theres no bulb in it
and the reason for that is the diode in the alt is shagged and the light must of been pi55ing me off lol

put the indicator back together

my mate bob is going to repair and modify the exhaust tomorrow
mot 12 nidday

thanks glen

hit a bit of a snagg today
mot was not to bad however it did go down on a crack in the modification to the front cross memeber and the lower part of the rear quarter panels behind the arch needs a bit of welding

trouble is i got my welder out the garage and its knackered and i don`t know anyone else with a mig set!
national day does`nt look like a possibilit know

if anyone lives remotely near portsmouth with a mig and would`nt mind doing a few small patches ill give you a drink and am always happy to return favours i have quite a few rs bits too
i would really appreciate your help

wow first time i`ve been on my pc in what 4 weeks been a mad panic

so many issues some my fault

after my last post in this thread i got hold of a welder and all was going so well then i kinda forgot to take a piece of foam out the n/s quater panel
small fire
https://passionford.com/forum/genera...1361-fire.html

luckily my mate runs a body shop so i booked it in for a bit of paint work!

whilst i was digging around underneath i found a tiny hole in the o/s inner seal by the trailing arm mount. should ahve left it alone i picked and picked and picked some more till it was about 14" long!!

so i had to weld that up got it all welded up in a bit of primer
took it back to the mot station and dave found that the inner arches had seperated from the outer!

stripped again and stiched back together all checked over by the inspector

got it back from the paint shop wednesday last week looks beautifull
took it up the test station monday.

drove like a dream parked up

right test time would`nt start(i could`nt believe it) i quickly grabbed the jump pack and stuck it on the wrong terminals. what a twit shows what happens when you rush!

quickley wipped it off and it started BUT i thought i`d blown an earth when ever i put my hazards on all my lights dipped sides/heads mains the lot.

my eldest started scholl last week and she`s adiment i pick her up so my free hours are severley cut

not having much choice i stuck the car into the old guy we used to use. he rang me up and told me the alternator had been fried.
plausable thereo go on kenny do you magic

picked it up yesterday and he said give it a good blast up the m/way she`ll be ok

so i did took it straight up the mot bay after and t still did it i stuck a new battery on her just in case and double double checked the earths.

still no good, i`ve litrualy just got in and i`ve found that if i run a wire striaght from the battery to the light switch constant live it stops it enough, so ill wire it like that for the mot tomorrow and when i strip it over the winter do some wiring replacment and some upgrades, as it must have damaged the auxilliery loom off teh starter motor.

on the good side looks like ill make it to donny this weekend
just the ticket and cambelt to go

oh and i still havent got my hands on a fuel sender unit
anyone got one?

ill take the camera out with me tomorrow

How did u get 17" wheels to fit properly i thought that 16's were the biggest that would fit. Do they rub or anything?
