Born at the end of the war when their was no car industry only refettled prewar cars, by the time I start to remember things new & exciting cars were comming out. The impact of the Merc SL300 can never happen now cos you have seen it all before that car won everything including a derivative winning F1 championships, it was a dream car & like the Veyron would remain that, however I did think that one day I may own the car below a Sunbeam Talbot my favourite normal car a Rally winner in its day I wanted one.

Ah that classic Autoexpress "journalism" Entirely down to a slow news week in the money problems that are the motor industry.

Basically make up a rumour of a new car. Based in this case (probably) on the fact the new (and modified) XFR went faster than the old XJ220 did. Decide that's enough to get a artist to bastardise a supercar into the marque of choice. In this case a R8 with a squashed roof, some "modern" LED headlights and a XK grille.

Then assume that when Jag says "it doesn't exist" that it must be a bluff and the car is virtually production ready.

I helped out with the restoration of one of these when I was 13 years old! My best mates Dad restored it from the chassis up. For me it was mostly painting bits and polishing chrome bits! Loved it tho!
