Hi guys, long time not been on.
Had a little spill with a little Clio RSi for a while, but bored of it now, and fancy coming back to the Ford Scene. However, I am looking to build a sleeper.
I was thinking about building a Zetec powered Ka. Obviously, the base car doesnt need to be anything special, but I wondered if there was any certain models I should be looking for?
Assuming they are both EFi, then it won't be too much of a pain to do the conversion?
Will the gearbox mate up? Or do I need zetec gearbox and special driveshafts?
Fabricated engine mounts? Or is there a way round this?
Cooling issues? Utilise the original Ka rad?
Has anyone done it before that can guide me?
Cheers guys

OK, So far, I have figured out that I need a top engine mount, to cut some of the slam panel to fit the exhaust cam pully and, if I use the 2.0 job, I need the 1.8 sump, pick up and flywheel.
Obv I will be utilising the Ka gear box.
Basically, I just wanna throw sommat together with 130-140bhp (for now), reliable, and fun. I was thinking of setting a budget of Ł1000, and this includes buying the car. Local breakers told me he has a 50k 1.8 silvertop that I can have, with all anclialries and loom for Ł100, so if Ł600 for the Ka, then that leaves me Ł300 for suspension/brakes.
Does anyone know of any other issues? Alt belt/bracket need changing, what radiator to use?
Cheers
Phil

You dont have to cut the slam panel depending on mounting youve done.

Thats an RS1800 lump in my old Ka. it was pretty close but wasnt cut.
Remember the ford KA uses the PATS immobilisor system so you could either totally hack apart the loom to remove old ECU or have 2 ECU's keeping the redundant ECU just for PATS.

Whats that PATS shite all about then? Obv I will be re-loming, and dont fancy having 2 ECU's, but I suppose the immob would be nice.
Just want less shit to go wrong
