Just wondering if these have to be done.

Just had a call from my Vets and its £42.18 for the jab.

I'm sure his legs won't fall off or anything like that if I wasn't to get it done.

Just wondered what your actually getting that maintains the dogs immunity and from what diseases?

When I asked her she didn't actually tell me and just came out with a load of waffle, that sounded like she was eating feathers at the same time. Not for informative at all

mine dont , but they do go to the vets now and then and mine aint mentioned any boosters,, sounds like a money maker mate

Does not mean alot but if u want to put ur dog in kennals keep them upto date our dogs get 1 every 5 years...

If you want to put your dog in kennels, or take it abroad, then it will have to have proof of a recent vaccination, but not a regular one!

They 'advise' a booster jab every year, just like they recommend over 60's have a flu jab every year... but it isnt copulsary.

None of my dogs have ever had jabs after their main puppy ones!

The Cat gets it every year. Plus he gets check over make sure is all ok etc.

Most important to get a booster shot every year for your dog, protects against many diseases but most importantly against Canine Parvovirus, if your dog is infected with that it is 95% certain he will die of it. It is not worth the risking your dogs life . But £42 is expensive, just had one of my German Shepherds only cost £25, might pay you to check prices with another vet.

what is canine parvovirus? and how is it contracted? mine dog has had his puppy needles and a booster the year after but none since..he is nearly 7 and only had 2/3 poorly days..lots of people i know dont bother with them either..my nanas dog has never had a jab and is 14 year old...good going for a boxer

Parvo is just awful... and like the others have said.... will almost certainly kill the dog if it contracts it...

but i didnt think the boosters could immunise against that?? i could be totally wrong though?

i dont take any chances and they are done once a year. and we just had them done a few days after ascari got bit a few times by a rat she found. she didnt like that much and the rat is dead.so is its mate who didntgetthe chance to bite her.they learn quick

My cat gets her booster every year, in her case the main threats are cat flu and leukemia. I don't know what dogs boosters are for but if you value your dogs long term health then get it done.

Your dogs yearly booster helps protect it against Canine Parvovirus,

I have 4 dogs and get their boosters every year without fail, It is very important to have their boosters, although the price you have been given is a little over the odds,should be 25-30quid.

Also should get Panacur at the same time, its a wormer.

The booster also gives the chance for the vet to give your dog the once over.

Apparently with this Vets, it doesn't include anything, just the jab itself. The one down the road from me also includes a yearly MOT and is cheaper (and nearer to my local ).
I know its not always about price. I didn't like the receptionists attitude and lack of knowledge. If I go shopping at Marks, I know what I'm paying for. I just need to get the mucky thing valeted now before Christmas ....

Our two get yearly jabs as well -well i say that, they are only 2 and 18months respectively, but they've both had boosters already - would rather be safe than sorry
