Great car, no problems with it except minor teething issues in the first 3 months, its crap on fuel, is on the std clutch, E gear is awesome, get R888's as soon as possible, servicing is very reasonable, build quality great, no fires experienced, launch control is seriously cool................... Can't think of anything else????

Except I am pissed I have lost 53K in 2 years because of the crap economy. The way I see it though if you buy now or early/mid next year and keep until we come out of the shit we're in you won't lose a penny. If you buy from an auction then I suspect you will get one for much cheapness, loads of people can't refinance them at the moment so they are being repossesed or given back.

Anything ive missed just shout mate.

Cheers Simon, I will give you a shout with any questions after I have driven one. Being heavy on fuel means it's barmy fast doesn't it?!?!

If you've always wanted a Lambo Martin and the speed ain't all that to you, why don't you go for a more aesthetic Countach model?

My reply to buying one of those is covered by Porkies reply!!! Btw the guy kneeling down is actually crying with laughter!!!

Hi Mate, just seen this thread - sorry for late reply.

Me & business partner bought a 05 54 plater (manual) in Yellow 18 months ago, with the intention of hiring it out. The car had covered 11,000 miles and was mint. Downsides to it were it was on its 4th clutch, and second engine (obviously under warranty at Lambo - we saw internal invoice for £22k fitted) and it had a list of warranty recalls and fixes.

Daily driving was OK and was no prob for me (6ft 1), and I didn't think fuel consumption was too bad when not hammering it. It had a Tubi exhaust fitted too and sounded fooking awesome.

I would deffo buy one if in the position now, as they are looking real good value. You may lose a wee bit, but as you said - will still be better than shares. We were told the later models were less fragile (Chrome bull on steering wheel is most obvious visual difference apparently).

We kept it for about 1000 miles, but felt it was gonna be too weak to put up with numpties driving it on hire. As you could do any repair/upgrade work yourself it will be a great car to own. History to date is obviously the key.

Well thanks for holding back Porkie and Martin!

Look up aesthetic, that's the whole point of buying the Countach. I'm refering to Martin's earlier statement, that ouright speed isn't everything. O.k. the Countach isn't as well built or powerful as the newer generation, but its more iconic.

Outright speed does not matter to me but the fact a tractor is nicer to drive than a Countach does!!

No worries

I did look up aesthetic... and now I think I am more right than I was before I looked it up!

Well that's just it innit Porkie, the Countach is horrible to drive, is as much of a lane hog as a massive American car, you cant see one thing out the rear view mirror, its an obvious source for renound poor Italian electrics (despite the fact they invented electricity), uses more fuel in a mile than a basic family car does in a year etc.

But it is what it is, looks like a stealth bomber, holds its own against new-skool supercars in regards to power figures and drag times, and should be in your dream garage of all time classic iconic motors, purely for aesthetic reasons.

Now tell me you didn't look at a poster of a Countach as a kid and thought "I don't want that!" If you did, feckin' philistine!

No way, not till you buy one! Hey, if you can drive a Rover 25 on the track, you can have a Lambo skip as well!

Which one are you going for Martin, colour, spec?

A countach couldn't hold its own against a BMW Diesel in a straight line!! let alone a modern supercar mate!!!!

look at REAL times.... not claimed ones

also I TOTALLY had a pictures on my wall of one! 2 in fact! one white and one red! and yes when I was a KID I wanted one BADLY!!! however I also used to like riding around on a toy pedal tractor and like watching the Jamie and the magic torch and the flumps before playing with my Zoids and transformers in the bath....

I STILL think you need to look up Aesthic mate. Unless I am getting it wrong.

The Countach IS a historic car and very iconic car... but I wouldnt want to be seen dead in one! let alone OWN one!

There was a guy on the MLR had one.. remember him moaning about it eating clutches etc but as you say, fixing it won't be too much hassle.

If it's a case of your heart wanting it then you can't really listen to advice I guess, just go for it.

If I was spending that sort of money I'd be looking at 911 turbos, but we can't all like the same things. Only thing I've always thought is for a super car they seem a bit too.. errr, like a reliable slightly flashier Audi TT or something, can't put my finger on it but can't imagine being in love with owning one, dare I say I can imagine one being a bit boring after a while.. maybe lacking character to me.

I've seen a few on the road and they don't evoke any passion in me, something like a GT3 RS does, or the time I saw an F40 on the M25 rolling past... drool

I had Lee's Porsche turbo for a couple of weeks and the wife used it more, it just didn't do anything for me.
