The RS 2000 DOES NOT have a MAF!!!!!!!

The problem is by taking the airbox out you have removed the ISCV, hence why it won't idle as mentioned by mikemcc03.

To be honest cone filters are pisch on 2K's(too much heatsoak), you want a replacement element in the standard box, then just drill the bottom. Good gains and it will sounds just as loud as a cone filter.

That explains the whole problem

If the ISCV has been removed then it will refuse to idle and in your case start at all. Try not to go for universal jobbies and go for tailored kits which will have accounted for the ISCV. And if your engine is anything like mine, with a short ram induction kit, you will get plenty of noise and shit throttle response and take off if it suffers heatsoak. Best thing I did was getting a long ram kit especially now when it is freezing cold!
