Too many posts.. I need a life!!
it all depends on what you want/need it for eg carrying weight or light stuff, as it has a bearing on what type of van which would suit you better eg a transporter or a large transit sort of thing ?

plasterboard sheets are 8x4 arent they so a swb transit would be fine, not sure about the swb transporter though they do a lwb one which should be big enough, but transits are easy and fairly cheap to get spares for if the do go wrong. for 2k you should be able to pick up a tidy mk6 transit ideally you wanna go for the 100ps version as the 90ps are a bit gutless but they all can be remapped easliy, if you want anymore info on transit look on www.fordtransit.org as they are a very helpfull bunch, and Martynx (vantuner.com) on there is the bloke to speak to about any remapping questions as he has done a few of the memembers vans with great results

Transits never die. How many wrecks do you see still driving about.
We've got a 55 plate with 93k on it and it's still perfect, goes like stink and abused all day every day.

LT35 is my choice dude
been looking at getting a van and got it narrowed down to the LT or Sprinter.
Trannies are good but not as good as the other two
I have had access to many as i sub to a few Companys and got to "test drive" quite a few vans over the years. If it power then not many come close to the LT35 158
Also the mercs and vw's are well known for racking up loads of miles which is why they are used by so many Companys
and another thing, when i used to work in France, the Sprinter and LT were the Beer Runners choice as they could carry 200 casses without looking like they are draging there asses up the road and still do close to the ton
