Mate recently bought an x5 and the tow bar came in the boot along with whatever else this is in the pic he doesnt want the towbar fitted so is selling this but doesnt know what the bits are or what they are worth really.




Are they extra shocks to deal with the towing? Like spring assistors or whatever they are? They seem to be from bmw so obviously the real deal.

What is this lot worth?
Does anyone want it?!

they look like bumper irons, they support the reinforcing bar

I think they are stabiliser bars. An additional safety feature.

Fuck knows what its worth.

Firsly you have the towbar neck and ball which is the detachable type so you only need to conect it when towing. The other parts are the original BMW bumper supports that need to be refitted when the tow bar is taken off.

TBH i would leave the towbar on as its a bigish job to remove the bar that is already fitted as its bumper off etc and the bar is hidden when not in use anyway.

get changed when you fit a tow bar


the tow bar is a swan neck one, a removable one

there should be a cover on the back bumper in the middle covering the rest of the tow bar set up

you should pull the cover off and just push the tow ball in

thanks guys! i did a wee google search and came towards those conclusions but you guys have filled in the blanks.

Not worth selling no...

X5s have air suspension - so you don't need to worry how much load you put in the rear.

The other cool thing they do is that when you plug a trailer in - the car changes the DSC to deal with any snaking by using the rear brakes.
