ok...

used to use a hdmi cable then the cat attacked it and distroyed the socket on the tv

so until the tv is fixed i bought a composite lead with a playstation socket on one end and 3 phono plugs yellow red white and a s/vhs plug on the other.

when they are plugged into the tv nothing comes on screen

tried the svhs plug on its own and the yellow video phono plug. still nothing... checked the tv is on the right aux/av in channel. tried them all....

any thoughts?

does the playstation 3 need something changing on it software wise form hdmi back to comp video.. not sure how i can do this without a picture tho!

i had to get the lead off ebay as i binned the sony supplied one.

does the yellow phono plug need to be plugged in aswell as the svhs plug? surely its one or the other?

So your running a scart lead? Try unpluging it and using scart port 2 on the tv if it has one!

What tv do you have?

Yellow white and red have to be pluged into the scart plug that comes with the console. the other black one on my set up goes from my hi fi to the side of the t.v (samsung plasma)

Ah yeah, you need to go to the settings on Your ps3. On there you set it to scart or hdmi (OUTPUT)

if its connected but not showing anything then you'll need to reset it.

once you have it set to HDMI itll only output HDMI

if you havent already, comepltely disconenct the HDMI cable. do some googling on how to reset the display settings to get it to go back to cmposite

i think you turn it off on off on quickly on the rear switch, it goes back to default setting

i can't it trashed the hdmi socket on the tv

Press and hold the power button for 5 secs.. until you hear the second beep. Then it should go back to normal mode.
