....right i bought a Fiesta, how can ya tell if its got low comp pistons!!!
can you tell if i rip it apart!!!

(before i go make a mess!!!)

gotta take the head off and the pistons out

thats what ive been told anyway cause my escort is supposed to have low comps and i wanna find out if its true

Look at the reciept the owner should have from when the work was done.

And if he hasnt got one then assume hes full of shit and dont give him the extra for mods that probably arnt there.

dont need to take the pistons out, just head off... it should be obvious

Either way you will at least have to take the head off.. dependant on the type of piston used it will be possible to get an idea of if the comp is lowered low comp mahles have smaller valve cut outs than standard ones (at least the ones in my old engine did!)
my accralites have no valve cut outs however
You still wont be able to tell what the actual compression ratio is just by taking the head off you will either have to measure the height of the piston and do some maths or do some jiggery pokery with a bureette.
That or find a receipt!

i bought it, its got no reciepts for it....
i just wondered cause it has other bits and it would be a touch if it had!!!

do a compression test and find out the standard compression of normal pistons.
might work/might not. worth a go before you rip it apart
