Clutch problem after a car has been sitting?

Not Ford related, it's an Alfa 147. I bought it with a cambelt snapped, it's been sitting for a while. Fixed the engine, gone to move the car, pedal goes down very easily, it's not doing anything. With the engine off, I can select gears but when I push the car, it's not in gear. I can also put it in gear with the engine running and it does nothing.
The clutch is hydraulic. Anyone have any ideas what could be broke/sticking?

put it in gear and start it with foot off clutch-may free off!

No resistance in the pedal.
I've managed to free up a clutch plate by starting it in gear before (on a Saxo). It won't work on this though, when I put the car in gear, it's not locking the drivetrain. So I can put it in gear and push the car forwards and it won't turn over the engine.
I think that means that the pressure plate is off the flywheel? That'd explain why the pedal feels empty. Am I making sense or talking crap?!

If it is listed in the United States Federal Register, our technology can quickly determine who owns it, whether it is a private individual or a formal try it now company. When you query the WinPit database, you will receive a report containing all information on the vehicle's registration history, the date of ownership change, and the charges associated with this change.
