Help!! Mondeo gear select problem.
I have a manual 6 speed mondeo 2.0 TDCI estate which seems to be having problems getting into gear.
The clutch and DMF was replaced in August, and the car has done about 4k miles since.
For a while when the car was cold it was still a little stiff getting 1st gear, but other than that it was fine.
This morning my wife was driving to work and found that she could not select any gears a short distance from home.
Luckily she managed to get the thing back home - when I tried the gears with the engine off, there was no apparent noise or crunching etc - the clutch appears to have full range of movement and everything feels ok.
I have checked the fluid and it seems ok.
There is no sign of any leakage under the car.
I can't select any gear with the engine on.
With the engine off everything seems ok.
I selected reverse with the engine off, kept the clutch pedal depressed and started the engine - when I released both the handbrake and footbrake the car moved backwards under its own steam (not gravity related btw) even with the clutch pedal as far to the floor as it will go.
It would appear to be in my laymans opinion something to do with the clutch not fully disengaging?
Your help or advice is appreciated.

Deffo a clutch issue. Had it with my old Impreza and it was due to letting it stand. I took it out for a blast changing gear at 2500 revs to "fool" the synchromesh and after a few miles it started working again.
I'm not saying that's going to help you in anyway long term but it may explain if the clutch is completely buggered.

Sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging properly.
The stiff 1st gear while cold seems to be the norm on the MMT6 box. Mines the same and I've recently changed the oil.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Sounds like the clutch is fubar. Our focus was exactly the same, the car would still move even with the pedal down.
Get it back to the garage that replaced it, some i've had replaced carry a few years warranty.

Well mechanic came and replaced the cylinder (?) above the pedal area.
Apparently there was a bit of a leak developing.
All seemed ok for about 10 miles, then the same thing happened again.
It is clear that the clutch is capable of working, but something is preventing it disengaging.
More hydraulic problems?
I don't usually drive this car, but can driving style and non-sympathetic gear selection cause this kind of problem?

Saga continues... Had a garage come to tow the car to get fixed. They struggled to get it started and ended up tow starting it for some reason. I had a call this morning to say the clutch plate (replaced 3-4000 miles ago in August 2013) had 'broken up'. So whole lot needs replacing.
No expert here but it looked like a hydraulic issue last week - could the massive forces associated with aggressive tow starting of a car with a hydraulic issue have caused the clutch plate to break up?
It looked like the chuckle brothers when they came round!
