Ive decided to go freelance hire (dop/sound operator) because jobs up here are dwindling.
So ive been hunting around to get the cheapest lighting/sound packages, anyway, on ebay there a guy who lives 3 miles away. selling some cheap tripods etc.
The delivery is gonna be 9 pound per item, so i asked politely if he would deliver/or i pick up to save me 20 quid delivery.

because hes bumped up the postage costs to make more money.

 

He's obviously going to make a few quid of postage.

Just go round his house with the cash. cant see why he'd say no then. Bit silly if he still says no though.

Remember, ebay is full of fools. For every 10 decent normal human beings, there is alwasy one donkey of a person, and looks like you found that donkey.

 

I sell on Ebay and as soon as someone says "can I collect" I say no. Mostly because I cannot be bothered with the arrangements - when will you be in, can I come at 6.30 and you know they'll turn up at 7.15 and I want to go out, etc etc. It's not about bumping up the price it's about the simplest way.

if he's 3 miles away it's not like he's going to say "i'm going to be out, come back" is it

one more thing, twice now i've asked peole who live in the vicinity if they were anywhere near the place i had just bought stuff from and, in both cases, one was in the same road and was was the house that backs onto the guy i asked

so it always makes sense to ask if you can collect

 

Rubbish, you honestly think it is simpler to package an item, take time to go down the post office, pay them to post it, than it is to arrange with someone to come over at a time when you will be in anyway? (evening/weekend/even arrange it to be collected from your work?)

I always collect/have stuff collected where possible, saves fucking about with the post office.

 

If they are new items, he may not have them at his house, they may be sent directly from his supplier / manufacturer, he may keep stuff in a lock up and not want you there.
