How technical a reply do you want?

It may be easier for us all if you refine your question somewhat to save us discussing injector driver part numbers and processor speeds in essays that woudl take hours, when all you needed to know was would the lid fit from your L8 as your were buying one off ebay with no lid.

does it have better fuel control?
Yes it does.

is it coilpack ready?
Yes, can be configured by the chip as long as your mapper knows how.

is it closed loop standard?
Yes, but so is L8 of course.

does off the shelf chip fit straight in?
Yes, if your mapper can do them

ok thank if i put one in it will be a msd chip!! does the coil pack conversion need all the amps and loom and stuff? what trigger wheel do they use a 4 or a 36-1 and do they use the phase sensor or cam trigger?

if you were puting a ecu in a escos would you put in a l8 or p8? for both coil pack and closedloop.
cheers

with either of these ecu's i would advise you fit a proper engine management loom such as pectel
all sensors remain as standard as long as they are in good working order and the car has a pfo9 tps
p8 is better but more complex no mods are required to the p8 ecu to work wasted spark bar a software change,it can work either as standard

Yes. Same as L8 except the wasted spark driver isnt a necessity.
Bear in mind though that teh tach will read half speed of course.

Std YB Setup, no mods required.

Would depends 100% on what your were trying to achieve, but P8 was std in the Escos so i wouldnt be retrofitting one, so huge savings to be had by retaining it. That said, an L8 can be bought with WS driver fitted for around £350 and the P8 is worth more if sold, so take your pick
