rapidcossie, think about how much boost the RS500s ran and they were only about 220

Why would you lose power?

You cannot give a BHP figure for a boost pressure. !!!

Its all about air FLOW and ultimately the spec of the engine.

As an example...I did actially bolt a T4 on to a standard engine once and it didnt get anywhere 500 bhp at the usual boost levels.

ALso, not all T4s are the same

its a rs500 T4

i understand it wont be 100% acurate by guessing, which is exactly why i wont attempt a guess at its final mapped power.... just wondered what others made,

it obviously wont make 500bhp at this stage.

so if i get cover for 400bhp, i would be uber uber safe, and then get her dynod when its finally mapped....

300bhp max i reckon.

modded heat etc may have improved flow, but not by 80bhp+

The BHP figure wont make jack shit to the insurance IMO.

If you fit a 500bhp turbo to your car, potentially it can have that much power so they will load it to the max.

is that right? so a std esc cos costs the same to insure as a t34 400bhp one?

maybe im wrong, but i assumed power was a big factor,

A t34 will only do 400 bhp if its modified !! LOL

A TOTALLY standard escos is a known quantity to the insurance company.
If you modify it in any way, your insurance must be informed.

so why do they ask bhp?

a t34.63 can make 400bhp just about, so potentially all esc cos bt, are insured for 400bhp, if my t4 is a 500bhp turbo? turbo size doesnt indicate power at all imo....

when its mapped i dont have to tell them the max bhp the turbo can make, i tell them what mine makes surely? and i cant answer that without a dyno run when its finished

it would be less than 400bhp though.....untill its mapped....im not trying to get cheap insurance, im being truthfull....

if the power goes up, il tell them ,no probs...

i dont know its power....so how can i say? im trying to do this the right way.....if i insure it for 500, or 550bhp, then claim if it gets damaged surely its fraud? because it isnt...

Ask who ever is mapping it what power it should be, that way if you did crash it ect you would have your tuner to back you up what power it would be
