Default wrc zetec turbo???

anyone know why the is a spacer block-decomp plate between the head-block? its a wrc engine.

it might have something to do with running liners in the wrc blocks??

it may have longer rods and throw so needs longer linners and taller block with spacer like reyland escort has

It was the same on all the zetec WRC engines - the liners sit proud of the bores by around 12mm and the plate goes on top before the head.

Never did get to the bottom of why!

Because you do absolutely anything you can to gain torque (and thus power) when you're running a 34mm restrictor at this level!

It was so that they could run longer rods to get the rod ratio up using the 88mm crank t extract more power and torque and make it rev better

Also used wet liners to, plate and liners were also designed to aid cooling around the top of bore as the engine was high comp and suffered from heat.

I've had a WRC engine in bits

and now to rack your brains even more!!! where can I get a idler pulley like the one in that pic for a ribbed fan belt

Its the drive for the water pump

no longer available

Also uses different offset so would not fit a standard engine
