Let me get this right, Paul is offering to pay out of his way and break his OWN car to help you out and you have the cheek to say "oh it's more around 6K" when you can get M3s for like 5k. What's wrong with you paying some of the money?

Also, WHY did you let someone drive your car with limited RWD experience on a damp track with NO insurance? Not a dig at Paul at all, just a question. I feel sorry for him throughout it all to be honest.

Its unfortunately a case of you bend it, you mend it. The guy has crashed jim's car, and he has to replace it. If jim decides to take advantage of the situaton, that's up to him.

No, I don't and I have no desire to.

Was Paul aware of the fact you was uninsured, and why did you let him have ago know full well, you wasn't insured?

I've answered your question, so answer mine.

I don't think he meant you were out to con anyone Jim. I agree though, your car was no 3k shitter. And the guy has to replace it with one thats up to the standard of yours. This would be a VERY different post if it was someone's cossie that was pranged....

i just want a car thats at least half as good as my own one rather than just the cheapest old dog you can find on autotrader

Are you looking to stir things? FYI most people that I know don't have insurance on track so what's your point?? I have NEVER insured my car for any track event!

because if he bends it he can afford to replace it? quite simple it's the same reason many others have driven my car on track and ive driven others? is it really that hard to understand?

it's not like someone borrowed porkie's 996 turbo is it!

ofcourse he's not insured it's a RACETRACK neither an i nor anyone (and before you say "you can buy trackday insurance" it think you'll want to know what it covers)

It's a delicate situation, no doubt, but i think the point being made is that was your car worth 6k?

i do not take out seperate track cover. It wouldnt cover the veichle if it was crashed anyway, thats not how trackday cover works.

Brig, based on what ive been looking at today i would say that yes it would cost between 5 and 6k to replace the car to one close to the standard of mine. why else would i say it? you think i'm sat here rubbing my hands together thingking "gee, wonder how i can rip off my mate paul"?

Simple, bend it you mend it, as has been agreed, people have been making sensible suggestions so far, so leave it between the people who it concerns. I drive mates cars all the time, and if Jim and Paul are anything like me and my mates, Paul will be feeling FAR worse than Jim at the moment, as even after it is all sorted Jim will be able to rip the piss out of him for years to come

How does track day cover work then Jim?

I have free track cover on my policy and as far as Im aware it covers me for eveything as long as the tarck day is arranged by a memeber of the MSA.

The excess is 2k for the first few trackdays then once you can provide you have track experience it drops to 1k.

Pretty sure it doest have any other exclusions.

gutted for you both

everyone know the situation regarding insurance on track- very few people have cover included in their policies and its a risk you take if you borrow someone's car

'you bend it you mend it' is the only fair way out of these situations

i have nothing but respect for what paul is doing- top bloke
