PS

A decent locksmith may be able to make you a new key from the number stamped on the locks, I had this done once with a mk2 astra which is the same era, was about 100 quid though.

I dont think any 50 quid nova would be complete, you are looking at a couple of grand for a good straight rust free nova these days, enthusiasts cars with prices to match,

i dont think he needs a rust free nova, just the key/locks etc

i was randomly comparing a complete car to the price you mentioned for just a key

Ive not actually changed a column personally on a nova, so I dont know for certain, but all looks pretty straightforward.

if its a facelift dash, pull the hazard lights switch out and replace upside down, you will now have full electrics and be able to jump the car. IF it doesnt have an immob/alarm.

break the lock, he will need a new barrel anyway.

And to start well, i dont think i need to explain how to bump start a car.

obv this is all only if he wants to move the car. ie. if its left somewhere dodgy.
