Default Headlining flocking?

Anyone had theirs done? Just thinking it could be a good answer to sagging 3dr headlinings??

Sounds a good idea, so you would remove the cloth and flock the cardboard, job done no more saggy headlining.

you would need to strip off all the glue and foam as thats the start of the sag problem

Get in touch with Doug (garage19) to see if it can be done.

Well that has to be done prior to recovering anyhows....so its no extra work really.

Yeah Steve that was the general idea...remove the cloth and just flock it. Should result in a very tidy finish as long as the board is in good condition. Cant see it being a problem getting a near oe colour match either imo.

Think I'll have to look into it when I get my dash done (due to cracks...want it done a similer grey colour again).

Did someone say my name?

Headlining would be possible but there are a few things you would have to do to ensure a good finish.

The previous foam and adhesive would have to be removed and then as the board is porous it would need to be sealed up with PVA. This would also create a smooth finish to flock onto.

Would look good when finished though.

Trial sounds like a freeby to me....I think it should go to the person whom had the original idea

ps It would go well with my garage19 inlet plenum...nudge nudge

I spoke to central blasting about doing this the other day (im in constant contact at present due to a wheel issue), they recon they would struggle due to the adhesive being used setting hard and not being flexible leading to cracks in the flock when it comes to bendy things such as headlinigs....take it you use a different glue then Doug?

Stu, if you buy a plenum i will do the headlining trial as a freebie.

I use a couple of adhesives for different applications so should be able to find something suitable.

How much do you bend a headlining when putting it back in?

Send it to the addy on the website:

Nah, I dont expect a freebie...that's unfair on you mate. If I get a spare headlining soon then i'll send it off to you for a test peice (gutted, lad across the way jsut crushed a 4i ) at a resonable price. Or if anyone else want's to have a go, then go for it

Mines currently stuck at body shop anyhows, so I couldnt get to my cars actual lining for a while (it was only recovered last year but it's already starting to seperate..hence the flocking idea).

Up to you mate. I'm happy to do one free as a test. Just covering the postage costs would be fine.

My mate had a 3dr that he tracked and binned the headlining too. Doh.

You aint related to old Henry Ford at all are you? ie you can have your new model T in any colour as long is its from our black range of one single shade

tbh I suppose a black headling would make a refreshing change to the present standard cream colour and would compliment my carbon fibre seats. Looking for a board now...

Black sounds cool as it would go with my black trims if it all goes ok, keeping an eye on this thread

You go for it mate.....if it works out good and Doug starts doing them by the dozen then I expect to be remembered at the check-out for the initial inspiration when I send mine in for flocking in his favourite shade of very very dark grey
