Rip all the mondeo stuff and give Martoon the shell to create Mond-Cos 2.

its the bloolocks to drive 4x4 but mine only lasted 2 months on 1 bar of boost then 350 pounds and 3 months later it only running again and i am now selling the fucking thing would love to keep it but the tranfer box is crap not only in std 150bhp form why did fords not make it any better like the cosworth

Hmmz.. i was thinking of the same setup on my 200BHP CVH turbo-ed (street) fiesta mk3..
But reading these posts.. and either the mondy 4x4 and the rs2000 4x4's VERY rare in Holland.. i guess it won't be adviseable to fit )-:

yes mate. i had to cut out a section of the passenger side chassis rail/inner wing and welded a curved plate inplace to give room for the box. and welded a bracket to the car for the gearbox mount. the engine had to moved forward slightly as the CV were hitting the end of the chassis legs where the tie bars mount to but this being a mk2 fiesta, you might not need to in a mk3/4 escort.

pardon the gash welding, was a new welder i was failing to get the hang of

i still have a mondeo transfer box in my shed if anyone is in need of one. in A1 condition taken from a mint, low millage car thatd been written off. 62k if i remember rightly. its all i have left of the running gear after some pikey cunt decided he wanted it.

Sounds like a fun idea Lloyd. The transfer box isn't exactly the Mondeo's strong point but if it's not come from a thrashed car, and you don't expect it to take too much abuse you'll
be fine!

That's a fair bit of work for not a lot of gain isn't it? Will be an interesting car when done though.

well i love the way the rs2k handles but the shell could do with tiding up. ive tried selling it but no ones wants them unfortunately so i want to do something with the parts,

think it would be good fun in a fez, not looking for huge power.
around the 180bhp. should be quite entertaining in a stripped fez.

be worth it if you were gonna run 200+bhp, but then you need to be careful youre not blowing transfer boxes up.

the one major difference between the mondoe 4x4 and rs2k 4x4 is the power spilt.

the mondeo was in favour of the front wheels and the rs2k is 60/40 split infavour of the rear wheels so it would be more fun than the mondeo set up

all the pics i've seen of the fwd transfer box show that it sits in the off side driveshaft

using a cooler won't do anythign i wouldn't have thought due to the viscous being sealed so there is no fluid to cool

correct me if i'm wrong but i'm sure someone posted pics of this sort of things somewhere

the audi conversion sounds the tits, but it also sounds like a few quid, although the possibilities afterwards are virtually endless

its not really the viscous coupling that goes, it can but the transfere box's seem to fail due to over heating and low oil.

these things only take 300ml of oil which really isnt alot.

some people have added an extra breather tank which holds an extra 100ml. it connects to the breather pipe and has a breather on top of the addition tank so in theory there is more oil in there, the oil rises when the pressure builds up and falls when the pressure drops so in theory the transfere gears should run cooler.

the standrd 300ml barely covers the gears at all.
as already stated most failures seem to occure from over heating. the teeth start showing a blue colour from the heat.

so it's the actual teeth that fail rather than the vc then?

it would be fairly easy to just route a pump to pump the fluid around the vc, and if the pipework is long enough, you could put the cooler in the way and keep the stardatd 300ml capacity in there to stop it from being overfilled and leaking out of other bits

the mt75 sierra/escos 4wd box take 0.9 litres of fluid so it's 3 times the capacity

it has been known for the vc to fail but from pictures that have been posted of failed t-box's they all seem to fail due to overheating.
the bearings break and the gears break.

whislt the oil capacity is upped with the breather tank fitted it shouldnt leak out the seals as the oil rises and falls when it builds up and loses presure.

i will try to get some pictures of the set up thats used.

its really quite a simple setup. the tank is fitted directly above the t-box
