Default New turbo needed...advise required please!

Rite.. i think my turbo is gonna be on its way out very soon!
ATM i have a universal turbos 'stage 3' which has a .48 ex housing and a compressor housing that i am unsure on.
the turbo has been fine in the time ive had it BUT i fear i may have pushed it a little too far and its finally giving up the ghost
That added to the fact that i will actually want more boost due to the addition of a big valve head and 5th injector means i would really liek to go for a larger turbo as i know my current on will run out of steam with this spec.

Now ive looked at turbo's in the states (http://www.turbocalculator.com/sale-garrett.php) and there seems to be quite a few available and they seem a shit load cheaper than over here too!

Could some one suggest which turbo may be suitable for my application..
my spec is.
1640cc CVH
balanced botom end with HD big ends/mains
Standard rods!
1mm oversize accralite pistons
'stage 3' power engineering Big valve head
piper 285t cam and pulley
GRS t'intercooler
7.6:1 compression ratio (assuming head hasnt been skimmed! )
usual other bits and bobs.. ie samco's exhaust chip filer etc.
i will also be using an MF2 5th injector.

Im looking for arround 250Bhp @fly out of this engine. i know im pushing the limit of the rods BUT i will be purchasing some steel jobbies shortly!

I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could look at the site ive mentioned above and see what sort of turbo would be suitable.. and which will with without too much troubble (i realise the exhaust housing bolts are different but shit happens i guess! )

Thanks
Phil

stick with the 48 ex housing - but go for a 60 trim wheel from a 4x4 cossie

it should be good for up to 340 bhp

Thanks mike.. so i should be looking at something like the second turbo down in the link below...
http://www.turbocalculator.com/sale-garrett.php

Does anyone have any idea what the exhaust end of the turbo would look like and how dificult it would be to attach to an RST exhaust.
Also would i need a larger hose for the compressor wheel end?
Thanks
Phil

Do your rods first, or it will all end in desaster

it'll be fine!

I NEED a new turbo anyway so i may as well buy the turbo i need now (and just run less boost) rather than have to buy another (ie bigger) one as soon as i get the rods done!

no one has yet bent a zetec rod - they should be good for over 300 bhp

the exhaust housing will meet your rst exhaust exactly (its actually off a Saab Turbo)

if you go and find a cossie 4x4 turbo - i have a 48 housing for sale if you are interested
