WRC Back ends
I think ill ignore the comment about the hubs then too after that semi trailing arms comment
All S13s ran shithot multilink suspension (as per the pics me and radders/chip posted) since about 1989. As did 300ZX and Skylines, all run setups very similar to each other.
Last thing with semi trailing arms was the shitbox S12s from the mid 80s.

Kev thats a top idea, and I see where your coming from
Trouble is i'm doing a Mk3 fiesta and *possibly* a fiat bravo so i need to make all the pickups and the diff mount.
On a cossie though top idea!!

these are replica hubs, albeit made for rallycross, and are £825 each bare, no bearings no caps no flanges.
I was going to do something like this, but I have too much other stuff on at the moment so I'll throw this out there......
My take on it is that if you source a suitable hub, all you need is a frame under the diff to bolt the tie bars onto.
SO, why not use the existing mounting points on the standard beam?? Box in the diff with a frame using the diff mount and the inner trailing arm pick ups.
You can then use the outer pick ups for the front/rear control tie bars - simple. No need for mad space frames bolted all under the car.
Get what I mean???

Hi Joakim..
The extra width on the rear is acheived in a rather simple way....the seam on the inner arch is split, the outer arch is pulled wider then the gap it leaves is filled with a fillet plate, I will get you some pics tomorrow....
The track is noticibly different when you sit a WR car next to a standard esc cos...

Thanks looking forward for the pics, I have an WRC escort in gravel spec without
wider arcs that i´m rebuilding to tarmac spec.
So i need to do this mod to get everything right as i should be.
of to bed
Hey Radders,
Its originally done by spooners , its like Ian describes really - an extra fillet but the outer panels are unique and hand made , its about 4" wider than a regular shell and allows the 305/645x 18" tyres under with acres to spare . the shells for sale afer the rolling gear goes soon too .

Pics of the piece that's welded into the inner arch, as I said earlier, they are split and the outer arch jacked wider, I have seen some that have distorted during this process.....
I was sat behind an old shape freelander the other day, and whilst it was only a quick glimpse, the rear end with cradle looked like it would adapt well to something like a p100 or project car and looked like it could be made quite adjustable
Maybe something to take a look at, I know the cars themselves are not the best but it could be a cheaper option for someone

Stunning pic of your car it so shiny it´s hard to se were the
new metal stripe is welded in
It would be very nice of you if you could take a pic from the inside
of wheel arc so i can see the metal work from
the under side.

Hello, i aint read this all so i maybe saying some thing that already been said but as far as the wrc rear hubs go you can use the rear hubs off a chevron single seater car as i have been looking at doing this mod to my motor they are cast ,light and i have been told that they are about 100 pounds for raw castings which is evern better as you can get then machined out to suit cossy std rear bearing which in turn means they will take the other std cossy hub parts which has just had it a lot cheaper to every one ,also for the diff craddle i have been told that a free lander (or something like that) has a dif craddle abit like the wrc which would mean some moddeds to suit the diff you want and your away on the right track !
Interesting thread. On a road car would there be a huge benefit over a 6 degree beam? I know the geo would have more adjustment and the suspension travel would be better and more consistent but in reality on the public road would it justify the difference. I can see on a track then yes.
I can see that the dampers etc have a better travel too.
Any weight savings after you fabricate the fixings etc.
