you sell it, just send a form with the other persons logbook as the owner of the car will be classed as the person whos allowed to show the plate, YOU WILL NEVER OWN THE THAT PLATE just the permission to show it

meaning DVLA could pull it at any time and theres fuck all you can do about it

right, couple of questions (would call them but they are shut)

I have received the document (v750 I think).. I now need to take this to my local dvla office (half hours drive lol)... Im busy, so can can a mate do it for me, or does it have to be me?

Secondly, I have log book, tax disc expiry date, and MOT? is this ALL you need? as I dont want him to get there, only to be told, no you need this and that etc...

Lastly, my tax disk will have old number plate on? will they re-issue me one?.. and will I be able to put the plates on straight away??

thanks, but all this is confusing

yeah think that's all you need
i though you had to go to the office, i wouldn't have bothered if you could do it over the phone!
they'll issue you a new tax disc, + print a new mot with the new vehicle details on then you'll have to change your plates over ( i did mine in the car park with pre drilled plates! )
make sure you let you'r insurance know you've changed the plates on the car too

when i got mine done ( new car ) i needed to get it taxed too, so gave them all the docs with the old plates still on the car, got a new tax disc and they printed out a revised mot cert then they send out the new v5 in the post. She said you have to put the new plates on straight away, but can't imagine it will matter that much!
i phoned the insurance before i went and told them i'd transfered the plate and asked for them to email me a cover note, took the cover note with old and new plate just in case

Ł80 to transfer plate from car to car ...Ł25 extra to put it on retention certificateif you dont put plate on car in 12 months its another Ł25 per year to extend .....bastards ...beware if you have a car 20 -25 years old sometimes the dvla will want to inspect the car ..before tranfer of plate,,can be a pain ive had this done to me a few times

I am in the process of selling the private number off my RS as it belonged to the guy who owned it before me.

I have found all the info I needed from here.

If you take in your current tax disc they should just replace it with the new registration number on it.

Well thats what they did when I got my private plate (unfortunately that had to go in the missus car as it can't go on my RS)

Can't make a car look newer than it is
