Because on the whole the Ford "scene" in the UK is about giving it the biggun about how great your car is and how well you can drive, bangin on about hanging the ass out everywhere, but not doing it.

There a few lowish spec sierras competing in BDC, and in Ireland there are a few Fords competing in Prodrift and D-rift, inc Mk1+2 Escorts, a 3dr Cossie, and Cossie powered E36 BMW and Volvo 740.

But even at a practice day you rarely see any Fords, even though Sierras etc are ideal.

You are constantly slagging off the "ford scene" in ways like this, but TBH its not really any different to most other scenes IMHO, all the scooby lads for example are constantly on about how "awesome my car is on the twisties" etc, and yet when you see them on track, most of them are fucking useless and couldnt pedal a pushbike properly let alone a car.

And loads of other scenes are the same way, in fact I would say I cant actually think of any whole scene that ISNT mainly full of people talking more than doing.

So I reckon it comes across as a bit harsh on the ford lads.

Hordes of Scoobies in Time Attack and TOTB for example tho Chip.

Of course the majority of any car ownership is like that, but I think its worse than most TBH.

Its not great on cossie's compared to some cars, but TBH its not exactly rocket science to alter it.

IMHO the reason more fords dont get used is that they arent competitive for the money, 2K gets you a good condition S14 that is relatively easy to make competitive for low level drifting, it doesnt get you much in the world of cossie's though.

Ok for similar money you could buy a sierra and rip the engine out and do a 24V valve conversion, or something along those lines, but its miles more hassle than just buying an S14 in the first place.

Its not about whats best, its about what car you want to use.

If it was just about VFM every single drift car would just be a 200SX, and the hordes of BMWs, Volvos, AE86s, Chasers, RX7s, 350Zs, Skylines, and other random stuff wouldnt exist.

He asked why people don't use Ford cars to drift. Not why Ford owners don't use there cars to drift. Once again you have taken this opportunity to slag Ford owners off even though it was irrelvant.

I agree to a certain extent, but at the end of the day if you do something that's too bad for VFM, then unless you are minted or got endless free time to work on modifying everything on the cheap yourself (and thats all time that could be spent practicing instead), you'll end up not comeptitive enough.

Im planning on doing some drift days in my calibra when its finished, but it'll never be anywhere near as good as jap stuff would for the same amount of effort put into building it.
Thats ok in my case though, as im even shitter than the car will be

Benni- That is the reason. People buy cars they LIKE mostly, not whats best, im sure ever your mind can figure that out. Otherwise only a few cars in the world would exist.
So of course its down to the owners. Not being in to it at all is fair enough, but the bigging themselves up on the net and not doing anything is the annyoing bit, as it happens constantly.

Does it?

Where?

I used a couple of ford forums, and Ive not really seen much of it on ford forums personally, certainly not to the extent you seem to have done so anyway, what sites have you seen it happening on constantly, especially recently, so we can all check it out and laugh at them too, lol?

Didnt the whole drifting scene originate from Japan?
Or is that just lies from film and TV?

I only imagine Ford owners have got more sense than to blat around munching tyres and diffs all day long.
