Replacing fuel lines on a saph, the black push fit fittings
What else can you use instead of this????
It's obviousy a pain to take them apart and fir new ones as you have to prep the ends of the fuel pipe properly, so what else can you do to cross from the fuel pipe to the metal fuel line????

Hydraulic equipment uses push fit and jubillee clips at HUNDREDS of psi more than a cars fuel pressure.
IIRC 2wd Cossies have the rail to fuel pressure reg pipe like that even as standard?

Admittedly, they might of used crappy clips or (most probably) wrong hose or wrong size hose !! Worried me tho enought to sort it on this car !!
Yeah 2wd rail to reg is fuel hose & clipped in place BUT should be assisted by a reg bracket that bolts to the inlet. So it wouldn't "pop" off, jus leak (lot's) & drop fuel on the dizzy & catch fire !!

LOL @ Tony, wait til you see mine !! (only jokin, fuel systems ok I think )

the hose i've used is from a hydraulic company; the chap told me the hose deals with massive psi pressures in the hydraulic industry; far in excess of what a fuel system on a car would ever see.
whats the psi at the pump and filter?

Was years ago in me Rs turbo days & that happened on a couple R 5 turbo's !!

i see; the plastic is still on the banjo; i didnt pull that off. All i've done is cut it short and then fitted the hose over the top.

I cringed when I saw that pic.
The zip ties are also a worry too, if you go over a pot hole or hump bridge and the car jolts the metal will cut the zip tie and drop your pump on the floor then the hose will fall off sparks from the cradle ignite the petrol and it will be like the film back to the future.
Been on 10 thousand miles doesn't mean its safe before I get jumped on

Apart from the nit picking about the way it looks.... I don't see whats wrong with hose, as the plastic one is still inside it? Its just sealed over the top with the jubilee clip. Anyway, if that's SO bad, what else can i do, as I can't go getting the original ford fittings and messing around with the end of the fuel pipes so they'll fit in those standard black plastic couplings......

so you slid your rubber hose over some shinny smooth slippery plastic .
what you require on there is the correct hydraulic fitting for your hose
the standard regulator has a specially shaped end there is no way you can pull it off the regulator is also secured in a cradle. If you think your installation is fine you are barking mad

So how can you connect it to the regulator? I was thinking of doing what you said on the pump, getting a different size banjo and connecting it straight in to the hose but it still leaves the other side in the engine bay to deal with.

Got a ridiculous quote for some aeroquip hose so I'm forgettimng about that for the time being. I do now have a spare rail that I was going to get modified for this but no point justnow. Going to look into this further and let you know what i come up with as there must be a better solution to the problem.

It's not so much the hose failing as Tony says, the probably more a case of the clips not gripping enough or failing as they have a tendancy to do !!
In all honesty, your'll probably be alright, jus remember tho, the more boost you run the more fuel pressure you get on a ratio of 1:1. Usually Cossie fuel pressure is 3.5 bar (51 psi) static (vacuum removed from reg). Which is another reason why the 2wd standard rubber hose to the reg was okay when new, only runnin 7-9 psi, with the bracket in place & decent clips.
But how many went up in smoke due to fuel leaking from there & droppin on the dizzy ?? Hence why they changed the design for the 4x4 models !!
Each to their own, if you ARE goin to use fuel hose & clips, get the clips from the same place as the hose in the correct size to allowing enough to clamp up adiquatley & also cut the complete plastic hose off, this should expose the banjo's ribbed end () give the hose & clip something to grip !!

Ok putting this post back up, looks like I'm going to go with goodridge 200 hose I think, has anyone esle had experience with this, or another type apart from aeroquip? Also If anyone has a 4x4 that is done, i'd like to see some pics or pick your brains about some other things.

Lol yeah I am, I'm supposed to be getting some off of lamchop but I'm not entirely sure he has what I need! I have a new pump and wiring harness for a 044, been painting the underside of the car for a while and now i'm desperate to put the fuel tank and lines back on!

You nae got the connections yet?
It's fitted to the standard metal pipe, using a tube fitting crossed over to the funcky red fittings that you'll be getting.
Also check out the piping for the manifold. It's all off the car, so best have a looky and buy that too.
Sorted.

think of it this way, if you pay high prices for the best hose you can get, you won't ever have to replace it AND you will have the benifit of being able to quickly undo it should you need to change something
the plastic way would be ok for a n/a car with a doubled up jubiliee clip either side as a temprary mesure but i'd still take the time and effort to do it corretly rather than have soemthing that "I'll fix when i can get round to it"
i think i can safely say that i've sat in the garden watching my cossie going up in flames due to the fuel burning the car running around like a headless chicken with the hose pipe out trying to put the fire out, it's not nice
