Precision driving...

From JDM allstars at Wembley on Saturday.
Part of the brief for qualifying was at that particular corner to get the back of the car as close to the wall between those two cones as posible without hitting the wall.
So he did.
No luck involved, he did it tons of times, over n over.
The run before that he messed up a tiny bit and tapped his back bumper off, so that run he compensated and got even closer as his back bumper wasnt in the way, literally rubbing the spoiler on the wall!

Lol, I was thinking of writing luck but I knew it wasn't. You got to be plain just skilled to do that shit so that's why I wrote "skill" in my first post
I would've gone to this event since I can drive to Wembley in 20mins if it hadn't have been for submitting some work in

Are all the competitors up for this? Is it quite a big budget thing/are these guys pro's or just your average joe that can drift good?
Must cost a wad when it all goes wrong, which i imagine it does from time to time. Good to watch though, no doubt.

But the final hour, the top16 twin drifting shootout, was SO mint it was worth getting soaked all fucking day.
But if your good enough you get sponsorship usually to some extent as someone good is a good advert, so the sponsors come.
Or its a good advert for the drivers own company.

TBH mate it rained SO much from mid-morning on youd've had to have been pretty hardcore to stay in the weather anyhow!

Almost nobody is pro really, not to the extent where none of it comes out of their pocket, or that they make money from driving alone.

Very few individuals would be able to afford to risk putting their car into a wall in the name of entertainment i imagine, thats why i ask!
Like said, 99% of cars are owned and driven and paid for by private individuals, usually home built too.
A few of these own companies associated with their car to some extent.
Most top ones have help from sponsors, but not massive help.
Simple fact is everyone smashes their cars up, and its just for fun. Just unlike most sports or groups of car peeps, they arnt pussys so just get on with it. Smash it, fix it, the end.
Two cars were easily insurance write offs by the end of the day at Wembley. They dont care.
And unlike pretty much all other motorsport, its about skill, not how much money/spec you got, so the "best" cars dont win unless they got the best drivers.
Infact this time winners was an old AE86 with a standard S2000 engine in it, and 2nd place was an even older Toyota Starlet with a Pinto engine on twin carbs.

Dont know why the quote didnt work lol anyway
Was the guy who came second Steve Evans, used to do Street Racer Sunday with him, but he given up (or at least cut back lol) drag racing and moved into drifting.
Well pleased for him if it is, when he he used to drag he used to plaster his car with writting saying NO turbo No gas etc

Also a bouncer he once told me a story one sunday at drag racing about his the night before lol, oops best not lol

Always been fairly handy at driving sideways, much more fun than 4x4, fuck knows why I bought an escort cossie
...I would want a half decent spec car though, s14 200sx probably, but 2 cossies and a duke mean it isn't going to happen any time soon

one of my mates has been doing it for ages.got a superb s13 that was bought from japan and had loads done.awesome car and was ready to drift. been out with him and its just superb even as a passenger
the natural talent thing is just the ford peoples excuse for not doing it.
loads of birds do it, in BDC this year 2 different birds have came 2nd place.
