im having trouble determining the gearbox mount used in my cossie converted bmw.the rubber has perished. is the 3 door gearbox mount the same as the 2wd saph gearbox mount? is there an online parts etk similar to bmw showing outline drawings and part numbers as used by ford?

3 door is pressed steel, sapphy(2wd) is cast alloy, same fitment etc though.

thanks , it seems like it could be the 3 door steel cradle then with bmw ends welded on. its definately not an alloy cradle. its the centre rubber bush within a steel frame that riveted to the main cradle thats perished. would you happen to know if thats a ford main dealer part thats still available?

 

I bought one late last year/early this year so should be ok.

whats a 909 mount?

 

909 is ford motorsport, anything that has a part number beggining with 909.
The std one I bought from memory was about £20-£25.

i remember reading that the uprated motorsport mounts werent recommended for road use as they are to harsh. is that true? bearing in mind its for my fully loaded everyday use comfy bmw estate

 

I was in a cossie with a solid gearbox mount, and all I noticed was a tinny sort of buzz at low revs, just thought the exhaust was touching somewhere.
It was so slight I forgot about it after 10 mins or so.
