YB is heavier than most 4 cylinder iron block and alloy head engines, as its physically quite large, id put money on it being heavier than a audi 20V lump.
Also what gearbox would you use on the YB, bit limited in choice, sure there are some options but a focus ST engine and box would make just SO much more sense if you really wanted to do a ford powered elise for some weird reason.

Sorry for butting in,
It's my Elise you are talking about. Sorry to dissappoint you but the car only has a mild 310BHP - just dynoed by JKM in Portsmouth. It's the only one in the UK running Garret GT28RS turbo. Most of them run IHI VF34.
There are manydifferent conversions out there, Civic Type R supercharged is also a good one but doesn't have the Torque of the Audi 20V. Duratec, and Hyabusa Turbo have all been done.
I've talked about the Cossie Conversion to my mate -but we came to the conclusion that there was little point - due to Weight, Gearbox compatability and how would you manage the heat in a plastic car ? the Elise is V sensitive to weight, apparently the 20V conversion adds 50kg but the CG is further forward.
There are car's out there pushing 350-370BHP but to my knowledge knowbody has 400BHP appart from a bloke in the USA who has a Honda powered one - but he's American ! so he's bound to have one - Pub talk if you ask me.
I know one bloke who tried to hit 400BHP with a charge cooler and Garret GT30 ? but it didn't make 400BHP it was 375BHP or something like that - it was possibly due to the fuel pump ? not sure what the outcome was.
I do know that when it came onto Boost it lit the rollers up (I was there) and filled the room up with alot of heat - I'm not sure how he managed the heat which as you know is a BHP killer.
Anyway, I built mine myself and it runs 310BHP (Dyno Dynamics rollers) 660cc injectors, GT28RS and 1.2Bar Boost.
Happy Days

It's not the quickest thing in the World - but it F ing Quick, Pitty I can't drive it any sense though.

Good to read that one again Andy, and thanks for the passenger ride again this evening
Goes SO much better now it's had a new tweak / massive MAP change by the bloke at JKM. http://www.jkm.org.uk/
The way the speed piles on and the smile on my face says it all really. Reminds me of how my old Saph went for the short time it ran at 470bhp, yet yours is "only" 300 odd! Power to weight ratio must be immense!
Those extra revs really make it pull well at the top end which is how I like my cars to drive.

Seriously, Andy's yellow Elise at 310 bhp deffo felt to me as quick as my old 1450kg Sierra Saph Cossie did at 467bhp. Possibly similar power to weight ratios at that power level, but as Andy points out, you're sat on the ground, with the engine just behind your head. Totally different kettle of fish.
It DEFFO feels faster than 99% of cars I've been in.

OH YES THERE IS!
and he is a member of PassionFord!
In fact... Pretty sure Waynes must be over 400bhp as well.
So there are TWO 400bhp + Audi Turbo Lotus's on here.
an S1 Exige and an S1 Elise with Exige clams
I will post some pics later.
Seans runs a GT30 with an external wastgate on a inconel tubular manifoild by the way.

I bet it makes a great car. I expect 300 bhp is perfect for a light weight elise thats still drivable.
Hats off to you.

Anyway I thought this was a Professional chat forum not a P*ssing Competition.
