agreed

I think a car can have soul and character though, jap stuff is very sterile to drive both my Scoob and Evo were fantastic cars, the Evo was the better car but I would never have another one, but I could be tempted by the Scoob again because I preferred it, not as quick maybe but for me a better more enjoyable package

a car for a lot of people is an emotive choice hence why we don't all pick the same one, and for a lot of people having the latest track weapon as reported by Top Gear is not the be all and end all of performance car ownership

Which would you rather have, a stunningly fit bird that lies back and thinks of England and shows no emotion to being rodgered senseless, or an average looking one that takes it every which way you want, pleads for more and suggests a threesome with her female friend?

That's the difference (for me) between a Cosworth and an Evo . One has been round the block a few times and communicates what it wants / needs, the other does everything for you, cooks cleans etc, but doesn't like to rumba .

Why does everyone Link (jap crap) all in one catagory. I have driven nearly every evo including 10 and i defiantely agree i find them really boring and lifeless compared to a cossie. i find a modern scooby a lot more fun to drive even. They were all standard though (my mate works for mitsi) so i can get lunchtime test drives.

However for the people that keep saying a cosworth is much older than the jap stuff can we compare something of its own age group.

R33 GTR

Specs

RB26DETT - Inline-6; Twin-Turbo Charged
Valvetrain dohc 4-valve/cyl
Displacement [cc] 2568
Bore & Stroke [mm] 86.0 x 73.7
Compression Ratio 8.5:1
Redline [rpm] 8000

Max. Power [Bhp at rpm] 280 at 6800 (official) 302 at 6800 (real)
Max. Torque [lb-ft (Nm) at rpm] 271 (375) at 4400
Bhp/Liter 109 117.6
Performance*

0 - 60 mph [secs] 4.9
0 - 100 mph [secs] 12.9
1/4 mile [secs at mph] 14.0 at 104

Im sure everyone knows the escorts specs.

Yes the escort looks better but also costs nearly double. Ive driven both on many occasions. Owned only one of them unfortunately, but owned plenty of sierras in my opinion as a reliability (my own experiences) speed comfort and handling package there is no comparison.

The escort just looks better and carries more passion with it.

I know there will be peeps that disagree but just thought id add my bit. Dont worry im ready to get shot down lol...

Don't forget the Skybus is a completely different class of car, and was well over 50k new...... you should be thinking evo 3/4 or classic shape scooby or a celica GT4 as it's direct competitors.

I know its in a different class but lots of people still like to comapare the two constantly so thought i would add it to the mix.

Evo 4 is a shocking car in my opinion. A classic scooby also does not even come close to an escos, in a completely different league. I like Gt4s Not the old incarnation but still not in the same league, and therefore yes the escort was far better compared to the jap stuff of the day.

(if you dont include the skyline)

I see what your saying but a better sum up would be that people just prefer the cossie as they find it not s boring not because it has soul lol. Think about it people are actually saying that a ford sierra and a ford escort actually have soul lol

You will never catch me going back to a Cossie unless they bought out a new one (and it was good).... which is never going to happen.

Escort Cossie were good in their day...... it's a shame that day was over 10yrs ago.

As with any cossie.... they are all over priced and over hyped now imo. I don't care how quick some are.

I suspect this will upset a few people but we are all entitled to an opinion.

I can fully understand why people love cossies though... I did until I put my glasses on!

Still upset with your depreciation - there, there, never mind - just think, your Escort would still be worth almost what you paid for it even if you had it now .

Think how much it wouldve cost in repairs and the amount of time spent off the road.....

Cossies are not the be all and end all when it comes to cars but I dont believe any car is?

The way I see it Cossies are more than just a car, they are a hobbie, pass time, way of life etc etc

The people you meet and the things you learn/ experience are just not available in ANY other car circle/community I dont think.

Hope this makes sesne.
