Had a 3dr, then went to a Mint Tommi Mak, then to a mint saff, then to a VERY special EVO 8 MR now back to the same saff.. mind you, the last sale of the MR was something i could do nothing about and would still have this car..
As for your question, different era`s (spelling) the Evo is obviously far superior in handling etc, BUT i do feel cosworths have alittle more soul, just my opinion, yes i'd have another Evo, BUT i'm more than happy with this current saff..

had the escort cossie, sold it, went to a BMW 330Ci, bought the Subaru STi8 sold it bought the EVO 8 swapped it for my current cossie
all the non cossie cars were daily drivers and to that extent much better cars but ultimately just cars ...... so ended up back with the escort but then I'm 38 and have a love for Cossie's so my blinkers are well and truely welded on but then there's more to a car than having the biggest auto-penis in the pub!!!
Out of all the others I would have another Scoob the BMW was sooooo fuckin boring it was untrue, the Evo was awsome but sounded shit and was sterile, souless ..... weird!!!
if I'd kept my red escort cossie I'd probably have 600hp and an extra 30K in the bank

Im a ford man too but i do like other cars i just think the jap stuff is so boring. Cossies are just an old car and the technology in jap land is way a head of us.Cossie parts are cheaper and most diy merchanics can repair them.Me personaly think that you carnt beat the looks of a escort cossie and a 3 door. The saffs are a nice looking car too but like i said i just think the escos and the 3 doors have the looks.

ive had evo 4/5/6. all different sti imprezas and a skyline gtr r33 along with all the cossies i have had.
its true there is something about cossies that there isnt with the other cars and they are so much fun when on song.but all the others are capable and fun cars.
ideally i would have a 450ish bhp rwd sapphire,an evo 6,an impreza type r and a big power skyline along with my m3 track car and i would be a happy man.sadly i dont have enough money....

Had 2x escos's, 3 saff's, S1 and i did step over to the rice side!
Bought an Evo 7 FQ 300. Loved it, probably been the best driving car ive owned, but it didnt take too long for me to sell up and get another Escos!
For me having a company car, i just want a toy sat in the garage and the RS range suit me for that. they have all just have something about them, but the Escos has it all and looks wise....STILL THE NICEST LOOKING CAR TO ME!

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
i drove my mates modded evo 7 which was running approx 350bhp... i felt the car was on rails,it was so tight, controllable, and sounded pretty awesome and for a split second thought "i'd like one of these" but that thought quickly changed to..." its no where near fast enough, didnt give me the buzz, felt a little too safe(if you know what i mean) and i would be bored of it in a week.........The final thought was it wasnt worth the money, especially when the clutch cost him a grand and was told with hard driving it'd last about 4000 miles!!!! So that was the end of that idea.
They drive the bollox, but they are belly button cars, and i wouldnt turn my head to look at one, a cossie on the other hand..................

My missus wants an Evo 7/8 as the daily drive so when we come to change next year i'll be on the lookout for something like this, it may not be the fastst but it should be slightly tunable
Had my first experience in JAP on Thursday, it's a Subaru 02 STI thing with 320bhp (supposedly) and i was very very disappointed, i was expecting to be thrown all over the place and feel as if i'm in an animal but it was a pretty poor show, so scoobies are completely out the window for me as i know i would never enjoy driving one.

Ive had 3 Cossys and i dont understand what any of you really mean when you use terms like "had soul" or "no character" ? The Cossy was a limited edition supercar which rightly became an icon, i loved driving/posing in all mine, i've had an Evo5 & 6 which were very much in the mould of a Cosworth in terms of having it's own distinct look, class leading performance for the price, the Evos trample on all Cosworths though for a variety of reasons but mainly technological - after my 1st drive in an Evo i immediatly thought the steering, seating, gearchange were bang on perfect, cornering & grip was better than anything i'd ever experienced in a Cossy, admittedly i was scared of trashing my RWD Cossys so never pushed em on corners etc and my Saff 4x4 was only 280bhp so nowt too fast to realy compare against an Evo6. I'm not knocking Cossys they look awesome still but the Evo definitly has a heart beat, trust me even if it aint got a soul.

i have drove tons of cars from lambos to landrovers and cossie's are the only car i have EVER drove that has soul so to speak! EVERY time i am in the cossie she puts a smile on my face wereas a evo etc is just a car!! i think putting all your time into it makes it feel more worth it when she is going.
i drove a evo 10 the other day now dont get me wrong very good as was most of the high performace cars ive drove and handle well etc and are def the way forward but there just not a cossie!
well thats my option and thats the reason i have one, even tho ALL my money goes into cossie i wouldnt part with her!!

I love all these people talking about cossies having character and 'soul'. were talking about sierras and escorts here not classic ferraris or astons etc! like my evo they're just bits of tin to me. some faster and better than others. just cant forgive crap handling as having character! Best thing to do is go out and drive some. not all cossies and evos are the same. Buy whichever you like the best for whatever reason !

TBH since buying my evo i have never looked bck after selling my 3dr, i use the evo everday, take it shopping and it never misses a beat (touching a whole forrest) handles excellant goes well in a straight line, does everything i need to do, i loved my old cossie and still do miss it but it spent more time in the garage getting fixed and constantly emptying my wallet.
if i won the lottery i would deffo have a rs500 but would still have evo and skyline over a saph or escort now.

and yes evo's do have small tanks to keep the weight down about £50 to fill up here and not that bad mpg if you drive sensible.

You can get evo's with none of the above technology, sadly the older 1's don't have some kind of traction or stability control, the 10's do i think, but i'm sure you can turn it off.
The only Character a cossy has over an evo IMO is that it breaks more. Hitler had a character.
IMO what you people are talking about is the "dream" of owning 1 from when you were younger. I never had that dream and see cossies as just another car, i grew up wanting an Evo, so i'd say that have the character over a cossy.
