something like a palm (but running windows) usually have bigger screens than phones, but they are obviously less convenient if you want to carry it around as a phone.
otherwise, if you have access to a wireless network, something like an archos 605 is pretty good, and can also be used to store and show pictures and movies (great for long trips)

I've got the o2 XDA stellar and it's good for the web & messenger. It's got a full qwerty keyboard & wifi too. If you are just looking for something cheap I have my old XDA mini s sat here too.

iPhone. There isn't another phone on the market that is such a pleasure to use as the iPhone. 3G speeds are great on it, works on EDGE too, aswell as wifi. Consistently, 3G has proved to be 2.8 times faster at loading than EDGE, and most of the time, isn't far off wifi speeds.
The inbuilt Safari browser is a joy to use, truly fantastic.
Better still are the ammount of site specifically ported for use on the iPhone and iTouch. Google for one, along with Gmail, Facebook, ebay and many others have specially designed "iPhone" views to use with the iPhone and iTouch to make browsing look and geel better, load faster and be more efficient.
The same thing will happen with the iPhone that happened with the iPod. The iPod revolutionised the portable MP3 player market, and as such, 3rd party manufacturer support, such as headunits, are geared for ipods. Same will happen with net apps with the iPhone.

And if you wait till the end of the year, they should be both cheaper and on the other networks. Proposed to be on Orange by October, so won't be long before they follow onto Voda and T-Mobile. Which will bring about a price war (lets hope!)
Soon as it's on tmobile and free on my tariff, I'm getting one and adding the unlimited web n walk

Ria, who you with (service provider) and how much are your bills a month? As if you don't mind switching service providers to o2 and your bills are around Ł45 a month, then you can have a new iPhone from o2 for free on the Ł45 a month tariff ![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
My bills aren't that high so I don't wanna switch myself, and having been with T-mobile for so long, I got a bit of pull there when it comes to upgrades and deals (loyalty etc) so personally I don't wanna make the switch, but it is so tempting!

When you get 5 mins, go to an Apple store. All the iPhones are there and connected ready to be used. You can use them as you please without sales staff restricting you, or bothering you, or having to decide if you want a phone by holding a plastic toy like you do in phone shops ![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
I spent nearly an hour in the Apple store today, but to be fair, 3/4 of that was me fighting myself to not walk out with a brand new iMac

well.... i am currently on orange, but i still have aggggggggggggges left on my contract im pretty sure!
my bills can vary from Ł45 to Ł90 a month, so moving tariff is definitely an option, but i just have ages left to run!
