Engine balance shafts, removal possible???
I`ve got a saab turbo engine that has two balance shafts towards the top of the block, but im thinking i could get rid to help the engine pick up easier as they apparently spin at twice the engine speed and are fairly heavy.
They run off a seperate chain to the cams and crank, so if the engine is properly balanced before being built and the oilways blocked that feed the shafts could i leave them out of the engine? I`m almost certain it wouldnt be a problem but would like an engine builder to confirm, thanks.

A lot of tuned Evos seem to go this route in the way you have described, so it's certainly a realistic plan. Not sure how many Saab engine builders are on here who would confirm that though.
Sure the Saab guys must have either a forum like this or a tuning specialist you could ask?
