I can pretty much guarantee that BT won't do anything to match it, with their ADSL service!

I remember about 3-4 years ago, seeing the results of an investigation around the world, and the UK (thanks to BT) came 46th out of 47 countries for ADSL-rollout speeds (closely beating Slovenia). They're not much better now, although coverage isn't too bad these days.

For the sake of a £25 admin charge its excellent. will go over to the 3mb when my Bt contract expires.

Will have to tell the old man to upgrade his 300k!

smit? what you mean about the upgrading fee??

id read it as... next year it will go up to 1mb (im on 300k) but i have to pay £25

is there a way around it you mean?

Just called ntl to confirm this. He said that existing customers' account should automatically be upgraded on a gradual basis...but advised to call in the new yr to get it done as soon as. Also no charges apparently for the upgrade: no admin fee.
But they always say stuff like that anyway..til you do upgrade & get a bill.
