hello all i need a bit of help. alltho im new to passion ford my zetec turbo engine is about 80% finished bar one of the biggest parts of the engine the con rods im useing c20let pistons and as most of you no the small end needs macheening out to take the c20let pins.
can some one please give me some information of a good company who will carry out the work?
dident think it was ive taken them to a shop the next road from me and he dident seem to keen. also probaly me being a bit stupid but the let rods are free floting and the zetecs are when standard pressfitted. will it be ok to convert them to fully floting? ive never heard of any won fitting a small end bairing?
yopu use the circlips on them and drill a 5mm hole in the top and counter sink it to allow oil flow then balance them . (this was told to me by ian howell and works in mine

sounds odd... you'd be better off making the vauxhall pin an interference fit in the zetec rod there's no chance of it wearing that way

but the let pistons are fully floating? do you think this will matter? i see it as it was made this way for a reason (even tho they are in the wrong engine)

it dosent matter... the let rods have a bronze bush in them because they are fully floating, the zetec rods have a press fit pin (into the rod) and no bronze bush. the pistons themselves float on the pin in either setup.
i'm not just talking about what i've heard on the internet here... i'm a machinist and i KNOW which way i'd do it.

heard you use cable tyes???
cps goes in the block you fool , you mean tps and being in the rugby club car park it was my only option to replace the screw with the cable tie, replaced it today though with a new screw
You get the pistons fitted to the rods.. interference fit as above.. you also need to machine a bit from the skirt to clear the oil squirters.. and then balance them
I had mine done for LET pistons, havent drilled a hole in them for oil though
not saying its not ok as i dont personally know, ian howell and gosnays engineering both advised me to do it as the zetec piston is a sweat fitted gudgen pin as where the c20let is floating so requires good oil flow once modified
