Default What Will A Motorbike Lap The Nurburgring In? - Yamaha R1 And So On...

I was wondering what time a motorbike could lap the 'Ring in, just curious. Is their a current record, if so what is the time? I mean a top of the range sports bike too, something like a Yamaha R1.

Cheers, Benni.

A year or so ago I used to read the "ringerlist" which is a mailing group for all the people into the nurburgring. Some of the lads that live locally are out there on their bikes every week and they are talking about lap times on the dot of 8mins btg iirc.

I have followed some pics putting in btg's of about 8:10 before.

Cheers

Take a look in here for people's videos of their bike and car laps.

http://bridgetogantry.com/index.php?...howcat&catid=3

The above video and poster is on there:

R1 7.32

Gixer 1000 7.35

ZX10R 8.50

Seen some really fast bikers there, and when you do see them they seriously make Moto GP or WSB riders look slow. I know they're not, but when you're cornering flat out in an Evo or Cossie, and a biker overtakes you IN the corner, you know they are going fast.

perfect example that one, car on correct line, biker decides he wants to overtake regardless

you have to be SO careful not to kill some of these bikers, whilst there are a lot of sensible ones, there are even more TWATS. they fuck up and you have 2 options, 1) take evasive action to avoid them, 2) kill them

hard to teach someone a lesson when that lesson results in serious injury so just gotta let them carry on thinking theyre invincible

actually looking at that in a bit more detail the car was off-line on the first corner so was probably a novice not paying attention

It was hardly what u would call " clear to overtake " for that motorbike. Should have waited for a safer moment or waited for an indicator from the car.

Thing is the BMW is going slow and off line and lets the first biker past... once the first biker is past he stays offline until the 2nd bike starts to pass then completely shuts the door on the 2nd bike, a quick look over over his shoulder or in the wing mirror and he probably wouldve seen the 2nd bike he was about to force off the track.

that is the most scariest thing about the ring imo. Bikes. I have no issue with bike at all but i was on the rwev limiter in Jims bmw in 4th and a bike came past us with his front wheel raised. If that isnt asking for trouble..........

Its a shame they dont do bike sessions and car sessions.

Id never even consider doing the ring on a bike at the same time as cars were out.

they reckon that by letting the bikes go out with the cars keeps them sensible. If they go out without the cars there they go nuts and thats when they start to kill themselves.

I think they should definatly have bike and car sessions seperatly. I agree with the above that it may slow the bikes down a bit if they know cars are on with them, but if they want to go crazy if no cars are on then thats their/our choice really.

Its just like on the road, there are sooooooo many unaware drivers that just dont pay attention and id imagine theres just as many on the ring.

Its like putting a cossie on a track, full of metro's and micra's. Very frustrating and dangerous for the cossie im sure, just like it is for bikes with cars on there.
