quite ironically I have never had a problem with the police, even when caught a well over the speed limit.
I simply do not attempt to blag them, or lie about what I have been caught doing. I understand that they have a job to do and appreciate this along with what is being said to me.

In general most of the police I have come across have been very reasonable and fair, there have been the odd arshole I have come across but that's true of all professions, under these circumstances I simply bite my tounge and go about my business.

I have no problem with the police pulling my car and wish they did it more often as it increases the chance of them doing it if it gets stolen and im not in it

In most cases from my experience the police seem to be more interested in having a quiet word with you rather than doing paperwork and its your reaction that determines where it goes from that point.

It's quite ironic, that my mates which are anti-police always give it the big man when pulled over, act like they have done nothing wrong and its victimisation, they spend more time with the police arguing than I ever have done by being simply communicating with them honestly.

People forget that the police often see the results of poor driving and the family's it destroys, no wonder they can be a little obsessive at times, I just dont think reacting in a negative manner helps them or you. The police have a job to do and this will be done no matter what you personally say or think, so why not let them get on with it imho

I think its wrong to brush all police with the same view as we have some really good coppers as well as the bad apples, take them as you find them.

Regardless of the value of the vehicle, if you were to cause serious injury and the insurance got out of paying out on a technicality such as non-standard and non-declared wheels, you'd be paying out for someone's medical bills (or worse) for the rest of your life.

Are the few ŁŁŁ's savings on the insurance policy really worth the gamble ?

As said above, if you can't insure it fully and legally, don't drive it.
