best thing to soak nuts and bolts etc in to clean them up?

Default best thing to soak nuts and bolts etc in to clean them up?

have loads of little nuts and bolts, washers, brackets etc off the mini that need a good cleanup, and tips for what to soak them in? Heard people using battery acid, vinegar, allsorts.

Don't know if they sell cillit bang in the UK but thats what i use and oven cleaner. Thats pretty agrasive but it works fine.
