I was going to take the stock sensor out of my tb'd clio to fit a wideband for some tuning but I was flicking through an old pf mag last night and spotted a couple of cossies being mapped with what I assume to be a wideband stuck up the tailpipe.

Why would you put the sensor there, can you not use the stock position ? I only ask as the sensor in in the clio has been in there a while so is most likely stuck like poop on a blanket, if its better / easier / doesnt make a difference to have it in the tailpipe I'll put it there and save myself some hassle

Anyone any thoughts on this?

Tailpipe is a nasty compromise, downpipe is far better, its only laziness to fit a bung that sees people using the tailpipe basically IMHO

I say 18" from the turbo.

On my RST, my Wideband is in the bend just before the exhaust heads under the sump.

Depends if using a heatsink bung extender or not, I always try to use one if going for a standard sensor location as they have invariabley been placed deliberately to get the narrow band hot.

I think you mean a heatSINK not SHRINK, unless its now really tiny
