Default Wisdom teeth?

End of last week I noticed that when I chew, in the back of mouth, top left, I get an almost "sharp" feeling, a tad uncomfortable, but no real bother....

Gradually it's got a bit more prominant, so I stuck my fingers in my mouth Right behind my last back tooth used to be a lump of gum. Now it has something sharp poking out of it, about a mm long! This isn't the cause of the discomfort/aggitation, but right behind that is a second, smaller lump, but it still has skin over it, like something beneath the skin/gum.

Feels a bit like a tooth! Teeny little sharp inscisor. Fuck all on the other side tho, just lump gum!

Is this a wisdom tooth breaking through? Is it gonna carry on being a pain in the, err, mouth or will it ease up and become a fully blown tooth?

WTF?

sounds like its a wisdom tooth!!

some people get quite bad wisdom teeth, but i have had two of mine come through with no issues at all!

It can take weeks, sometimes months for a wisdom tooth to some through properly!

definitely sounds like wisdom teeth, my bottom left one has given me aggro for months, bottom right came through really easily but every 2-3mths im in agony with it for a couple of days

theres a gap between the gum and the tooth which keeps getting bits of food stuck in it

Fuck, this sounds like it's gonna be fun then! Don't like this not being able to bite down properly - I like being able to grind my teeth together too much!

My bottom 2 teeth have been a nightmare for me. Have been pushing through for years!

SARAH. I have the same problem
People wonder why I have a box of coctailsticks in my car, its so i can get the food out of the gum. If i dont then my gum gets infected then that follows on to tooth ache. Fucking nightmare!

MATTJ. Also have the same problem with my "bite". Never had this problem until my wisdom teeth came through!

Mine are coming through ok, although they come through more some months, but only once have I been in pain with them, and it lasted for about a month maybe. It was quite bad for about a week, couldn't open my month properly to eat, just bareable.

After that, everything's been fine. Maybe wait and see if it gets any better before getting thm out, cos eveybody I've spoke to that's had them out has said it's the worst pain they've ever felt!!

How old are you? I'm 28, I've had mine coming through for about 5 years now i reckon, and as I say, only one month of pain.

Punkie - I was thinking more along the lines of having an NHS dentist as a regualr dentist. I know some do, but I've no idea how to go about getting it, as I haven't been to the dentist is fuck knows how long - probably 10yrs - as it costs too fucking much!

I've got fuck all along the bottom, not much top right, but top left is well on it's way, and it was that one that caused me some grief.

Matt - I'd be happy with just general check ups and minor work. I've been very lucky with my teeth and at 26 never had a root canal, never had any drilling, never had a cap or crown, never had a tooth removed etc.... So if I can get my national insurance contributions to pay for dental check ups I'd be well happy! I've been to hospital twice in 10yrs so it's about time I got something for my NI, lol...

I'm glad I had all of mine taken out when I was younger reading how much trouble they are causing everyone. Got knocked out in hospital, got them ripped out and looked like a hamster and lived on soup for a week, but well worth it by the sounds of it :lol

Go to the hospital with it. I did and got put to sleep while they took it out. If you go to the dentist you will be wide awake in the chair with the dentists knee in your chest. Didn't fancy that at all. My mother got hers taken out when she was on her 20's and ended up with 2 black eyes from the dentist trying to get leverage. I have the same jawline as her so that's why I went to the hospital.

One of my wisdom teeth is growing like this...

it would be much eaiser and a lot less messy to put a hole into your check and pull it out that way

but that does look proplerly fucked up

btw, in case you were wondering matt, my mrs has a wisdom tooth waiting to come out and is on the nhs waiting list

she's been on it for nearly 3 years

at first they said they couldn't xray her as she was pregnant
then they had to wait a year after junior was born
then they xray'd her to find teh problem
then she was put onto the waiting list
then they set her appointment date back (origianly it was 11 months after her xray)
now she's pregnant again so they can't xray her

so as long as you don't fall pregnant, you are looking at around 11 months after you start to complain about it

and yes, it's fairly horrific as someone posted up that they had brusing on their chest and ribcage after the dentist had to put their knees on them to pull the tooth out

makes you feel good don't it

Just get it done in the hospital, don't let a dentist touch them
They knock you out completely and cut them out, not the way a dentist does it

I had 4 of my wisdom teeth out about 5 years ago now - 2 at a time. Two of them where growing outwards into my cheek & rubbing on the inside of my mouth which in turn used to get slightly infected and gave me a gob full of ulcers....not pleasant at all - especially as this lasted for months until I went to the dentist & he told me straight away what was causing it!!

Think they cost me around Ł80 in all to have removed - probably the best money I have ever spent on my anatomy!!! LOL!

Stop being a wuss & go get them taken care of - you really wont regret it - as people have said it will only get worse otherwise!

punkie, both of my bottom ones were exactly the same as this at the age of 13 they were removed in hospital along with 2 teeth either side, they had to go as at that age the wisdom teeth were under the normal teeth..
