Default My new car (pics)

Sorry not a ford but i got myself an audi s6

Decided to go for refinement and its a joy to drive

4.2 v8 (340bhp) n/a - power on tap when i need it and triptronic box is superb

Done 105k but audi fsh

Got a train from aberdeen to sheffield and drove all the way back on my tod.

Well worth it as i got it for £6500 when it was advertised at £7500. A lot of them even at this mileage are advertised at 8-10k !!!

Cant believe my luck, was expecting there to be something wrong at that price but ive drove 600-700 miles and no problems and it aint used a drop of oil. Touch wood, touch wood !

Never been one for getting excited about interiors of cars but i absolutely love it in this. Electric everything, full leather recaros, full bose system and carbon fibre inserts. Oh yeah and i can change gear with buttons on my steering wheel as well as the shift !

Some questions;

1. When i put the gearbox into triptronic mode and i change up a gear is it ok to keep my foot planted or should i be lifting my foot off then applying accelaration once ive changed gear ? Dont wanna fuck the box (££££££££££ 's).

2. Anyone on here with performance audis in the aberdeen area. Heard a few bad stories about the audi dealership (specialist cars). I was thinking of using bavaria autowerke. Anyone put their cars in there ?

3. Any tips of ownership from fellow s6 owners owners of car with same 4.2 engine (s8, newer s4)?

Nice car. How much are you paying to insure it? I couldn't get a quote below £1400 when I wanted one of these!! (compared to < £500 for a cossie at my age).

in cruise control at 70 mph - 25/26 ish mpg

havent tested it properly but at 80 i think its about 22/23 mpg

only when you go above 80 or does it really start to drink

uses quite a bit town driving as i have it in auto

I dont have to commute thank god !

Bavaria are good! I use AW Autotech who specialise in German cars, there pretty good and well priced, I've had no problems and used them for Audi's & Bmw's.

It dried up a bit last night so took it for a blast up the country roads for the first time.

Actually quite nimble and quattro system impressive even on a big car like this

That was my old one (non S model), it drove amazingly, felt so chuckable for the size! The only down side was the economy and the bills from Audi when it went wrong

When i was looking i didnt rule out an avant. They do seem to carry a premium compared to the saloons.

This was to good a deal to pass up

I booked it in bavaria autowerke for a full long service

The technician gave me a list as long as your arm for what is included in it

I should hope so at £560 !

Definitely a good idea to get a specialist to check it out, that was one of the problems with mine - the local Audi dealers didn't have a clue and so when something went wrong they would spend 1000s of my pounds throwing new parts and labour at it.

Just pray your instrument cluster doesn't go like mine did... That was a bad day

Thanks chop

Phil

See what your saying. Thats why its going to bavaria.

As i said early its only got to do me 15-20k over 3 years

If nothing major goes wrong in that im laughing

With 105k on the clock hopefully any niggles it has had have sorted themselves out

If it does go majorly worng its getting punted !!

Whats the story with the cluster lol ?

The cluster just decided to stop working when it was cold, so I had no speedo etc. From memory I think it cost a good £700+ for a new one

I think its quite a common prob from reading the forums
