Default Good News - my car is running again.

Just heard the good news. everything's back together and it's sitting there purring away now

this is with it's replacement engine/box after the last engine snapped a cam at the nurburgring.

should hopefully pick it up tomorrow then straight over to bexley motorworks for a full service and setup.

can't wait to drive her again

paul, was just a standard replacment engine from someone breaking a car

rich, the cam snapped whilst in the workshop, i think the engine would have been quite easily repairable before the thing snapped... lol

Bad news about the break but good news on the fix

I'm guessing that it's probably cos it was due to cost Łx to repair, but then the cam snapped in the shop and a new lump was needed, costing more.....

no thats not it

rather than just take the least hassle option of getting it dropped off at Bexley Motorworks and having them sort it, it went down the cheaper route...

unfortunately that turned out to cost more anyway... lol

I have paid Ł1200 for an engine+gearbox complete with all anciliaries etc. which was a pretty good price IMHO

well, that didnt exactly go to plan

got there and the first thign i notice is the dirty great scuff on the sideskirts where the ratchet straps have eben rubbing on it, well done AA for fucking damaging the car plus the car's an absolute oily/dirty mess i know its' gonna be a fucking ballache to make a claim off the AA too

then the guy tells me it won't start

hang around for half hour whilst he pulls the plugs out and finally it fires up, so off i go and limp it back misfiring its tits off to Bexley motorworks. they have it now and can hopefully sort everything out and get it up and running properly again.

so, not been in the best of moods today really

judging by the state of the plugs etc. it'll need a service minimum to get it running nice. all the sensors on my old engine are good if it turns out any are a bit manky anyway.

spose thats what you get with engines that have been sat a long time.

To be fair, the AA are quite good really, Jim, if you have any hassles claiming off them drop me a PM, my dad is a regional manager dealing with recovery firms etc, not in your area unfortunatly but might be able to pull some strings should you run into trouble. Take some photos with todays paper in ASAP, and make sure you inform them ASAP that the damage has occured, and they are quite reasonable about sorting stuff like this out. Was it actually the AA or a contractor that recovered the car?

i dont know who did it, it was a total fuckup by them when the dropped it there.

they did not inform the person expecting the car about it beofre they showed up, so the bloke in a unit next to him signed for it. all of this happened without the permission/knowledge of me or of my delegate
